Plunge - 10 Apr 2004 10:28 - 101 of 151

Taken from the ADVFN Bulletin Board

Cater Bernard had delusions of becoming a mini investment bank and corporate finance house. Strategy was flawed and founder S Dean has since departed and sold his shares. Late last year new management moved in. The disposal of stake in US stockbroker Griffin followed and CB is now effectively a cash shell with a 23% holding in Dialog, a US-listed info services business.
Backed by David Williams, the company's strategy is to build a property management, maintainence and service business. The first step was an agreement to acquire a 40% stake in private maintainence firm Navitas Hemway. Also an option to buy the remainder at any point up to Oct 2004 for 788,000 - payable only if profit of at least 560,000 is achieved in any 12-month period up to June 2005. Navitas has 2 major contracts to provide maintenance services to shopping complexes, both of which are for 3 years.
Recent placings have secured 900,000 for expansion. Next on list is likely to be a professional services and commercial agency. New investors include Paul Whight, former chairman of Grantchester. The UK facilities management market is massively fragmented and is estimated to be worth 117bn - expected to grow 10% a year. CB has ambitions to create a significant business, through acquisitions.

Baughfell - 10 Apr 2004 10:52 - 102 of 151

The above is actually from this weeks IC

Socrates - 10 Apr 2004 10:59 - 103 of 151

If SD has sold his shares I am glad to hear it. The shares in Dialog (DLGG) are virtually worthless, I've been watching them a long while and they only ever seem to go South. I just hope the new direction can make an impact.

Mind you, I have to confess I bought on the strength of the shares being only a fraction of a penny, a highly speculative punt, but it could be a multibagger if CB is successful.
