Lambykins's Dutch Coffee House - ADULTS ONLY (LAMB)

Spaceman - 28 Jan 2005 23:56

CLOSED - THANKS to all customers for the last few years

stockbunny - 15 Feb 2005 15:37 - 840 of 24230

Well you know I checked the kitchen JJ at lunchtime and couldn't
see him in there either.....I wonder if the bank has lost him in
the vault, you know taken him hostage and locked him in?
Oh dear...who'd pay??????????????????
;>)

Opto - steak! Now I ask you did you see steak on the menu
for lunchtime! Really now as a regular I expect you to know
the drill in here, the menu is the bar-bible and cannot be changed!
Well not without bribery and corruption which we don't encourage
in here but if you'd like to leave a contribution under gnome by
the back door I might consider your request ;>)

Priscilla - 15 Feb 2005 16:25 - 841 of 24230

You don't think the worst has happened to our Jeffie, do you, girls? Surely he hasn't had to fill his day with WORK????!!!!

No. I thought that was a silly idea and so un-Jeff!

stockbunny - 15 Feb 2005 16:30 - 842 of 24230

He's been missing for a while now Priscilla, not seen him
on either of the boards unless I've missed his posts.
maybe he's off on some amazing holiday?

optomistic - 15 Feb 2005 16:40 - 843 of 24230

Bunny I know it's a long time ago but I've been busy. Had a good look for the gnome and all I could find was a fishing rod....he must have fell in the pond!

stockbunny - 15 Feb 2005 16:45 - 844 of 24230

Oh no!! First Jeffmack and now the gnome!!!!!

stockbunny - 15 Feb 2005 16:57 - 845 of 24230

Greystone - 15 Feb 2005 16:59 - 846 of 24230

I'll take one of those spuds with chives and cream please stockbunny, and a warm glass of port...

Have a good night all!

Socrates - 15 Feb 2005 17:05 - 847 of 24230

Hello, it's Socco with a smile on his face. Priscilla knows why.

I can smell a doughnut, I'll just follow my nose.

Seymour Clearly - 15 Feb 2005 17:39 - 848 of 24230

Evening folks, just popped in to look around - my first visit here.

I've had a bit of luck - when I got home from work on Monday I found a half case of Champagne had arrived courtesy of cmc spreadbet! Had no idea why so rang them to find out why - thought it was something to do with the fact that I'd topped my account up recently but apparently I filled in an online questionnare and prize draw - and I won the thing. As I never win anything I was gobsmacked.

I've left three bottles in the fridge behind the bar - give them an hour or so then help yourself folks. I know it's early but you can drink Champers and sober up.

By the way, why does Champagne not lose it's fizz if you dangle a teaspoon in the open bottle top? Anyone know the answer?

7thFloor - 15 Feb 2005 18:51 - 849 of 24230

SC. It doesn't. No difference between an uncorked one and one with a teaspoon in its neck. I did this experiment years ago. Am willing to repeat it if I can find the bottles. Where are they?

It's an urban myth! Yeth my muther theth tho' :-)

Priscilla - 15 Feb 2005 18:55 - 850 of 24230

Spacey...what's happened to Lamb-chops' picture? Is it snowing heavily round you and he's lost?

7thFloor - 15 Feb 2005 19:16 - 851 of 24230

BURP!!!

That lamb was delicious! The things you can get away with when Spaceys not around! Not very well prepared though!

Right, gotta go now!

Seymour Clearly - 15 Feb 2005 19:21 - 852 of 24230

Erm, 7th, that's just what I said ;-) Why does it not lose it's fizz!!

The bottles are behind the bar - look in the fridge - should be nicely chilled by now - I'll just meander over and open a bottle and have one with these sausages. Don't think you'll have time to do the experiment - depends on how many customers partake tonight.

Socrates - 15 Feb 2005 19:33 - 853 of 24230

Seymour
I'll crack a bottle with you. I don't normally partake of too much of the bubbly as it gives me heartburn, but I'll make an exception to welcome a new member. Bubbly usually attracts Priscilla, I'm not sure if it's the sound effect or whether she has an advanced sense of smell.

Do you know, I really fancy some Spam fritters and chips with semolina with blackcurrant puree for afters.

MightyMicro - 15 Feb 2005 19:36 - 854 of 24230

Seymour: it has to be a silver spoon, I'm reliably informed.

However, I take no chances and either drink the lot or use a special clamping bottle stopper given me by those nice folks at Mumm Napa.

chocolat - 15 Feb 2005 19:59 - 855 of 24230

Well we always stick a spoon in ours, even if it's only for five minutes :S
Mr Grumpy does have a habit of chilling a bottle or two in the freezer - now that's a bubble-killer, but great if you like slushies.

chocolat - 15 Feb 2005 20:02 - 856 of 24230

Oh 'eck, did the gaff just fly away? Who's been spiking the bubbles?

Paulo2 - 15 Feb 2005 20:06 - 857 of 24230

Personally speaking I'd never let a bottle of champers lie around long enough for it to go flat. But that's us northeners for you.

Seymour Clearly - 15 Feb 2005 20:40 - 858 of 24230

Gordon bennet I wander off for a few minutes into the quiet room and come back to find you lot have finished that bottle off - no need for a spoon. These aren't going to last long - right that's the cork off the next one, very nice it is too - Perrier Jouet Grand Brut.

MM - I also have one of those special bubbly stoppers - had to buy mine though. Rarely have occasion to use it. Same reason that we're not going to need it in here tonight.

Socrates - 15 Feb 2005 20:49 - 859 of 24230

Did you know that Gordon Bennett was a newspaper magnate with a habit of imbibing rather too much, could easily have been a member here!
