How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

this was 1 i looked at yesterday as a potential one that could well shorten - instead it went from 4 to 12, given no chance in the race having been shoved out the back then ran on really well - could be one to watch next time out

Harlosh - 01 Feb 2006 16:04 - 8414 of 10502

Murray won the first set against the tournament favourite.

Liqidity is not great Steve but I've not had a problem getting filled.

Fundamentalist - 01 Feb 2006 16:14 - 8419 of 10502

i see hes playing Ljubicic - one of the players bagdhatis defeated in an aussie open 5 setter - he blew very hot and cold from what i remember and didnt look to composed from in front but looked better when up against it

Harlosh - 01 Feb 2006 16:30 - 8420 of 10502

Bakko - re yr 8409. Thanks. I was trying to get in with BetAngel not from Betfair's front page and so did not see the T&C page. I was just trying to give Scrip a quick response.

All fixed now. Now where did I leave the 4X Sheila?

Harlosh - 01 Feb 2006 18:07 - 8425 of 10502

Backed the draw in the Sampdoria v Udinese at 1.9

Harlosh - 01 Feb 2006 18:29 - 8426 of 10502

Fundamentalist - 01 Feb 2006 19:08 - 8427 of 10502

John

Scripophilist - 01 Feb 2006 19:55 - 8428 of 10502

A couple of interesting matches this evening. Will keep an open mind as to what to do.

Scripophilist - 01 Feb 2006 19:55 - 8429 of 10502

I think Arsenal may wobble a bit against West Ham but Liverpool look ok against Birmingham.

Fundamentalist - 01 Feb 2006 20:04 - 8430 of 10502

Chelsea 1-0 up already

Scrip - arsenal price looks a bit skinny though personally couldnt lay them as for some reason they often really turn it on against West Ham - i can remember 2 relatively recent meetings where it had been over by half time with arsenal 3 or 4 nil up

Harlosh - 01 Feb 2006 20:04 - 8431 of 10502

Yep, you can't rely on Arsenal these days Scrip.

Fundamentalist - 01 Feb 2006 20:07 - 8432 of 10502

Side looks a lot stronger with Pires and Ljundberg rather than Reyes and Hleb and also with Henry and Van Persie up front, bigger concern is obviously at the other end, especially Senderos at left back
