How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

1-0 west ham

oh dear Sol Campbell

Fundamentalist - 01 Feb 2006 20:29 - 8441 of 10502

Arsenal only 2.22 at 1-0 down - looks ridiculously short (and yes i was looking to back them now!)

Scripophilist - 01 Feb 2006 20:31 - 8442 of 10502

Well a good night for me, Arsenal down and Brum have had a man sent off so I didn't even need a goal in the Liverpool match to go green.

bakko - 01 Feb 2006 20:32 - 8443 of 10502

Arsenal price does look quite juicy with more than an hour to play

Fundamentalist - 01 Feb 2006 20:34 - 8444 of 10502

2-0 West Ham

ffs Campbell

bakko - 01 Feb 2006 20:34 - 8445 of 10502

2-0 down now!

Scripophilist - 01 Feb 2006 20:34 - 8446 of 10502

2-0 West Ham!

Scripophilist - 01 Feb 2006 20:34 - 8447 of 10502

Arsenal are having a mare of a season Steve!

Scripophilist - 01 Feb 2006 20:35 - 8448 of 10502

Wenger out!

Scripophilist - 01 Feb 2006 20:35 - 8449 of 10502

Unfortunately I was green already so no real benefit from me on Arsenal. Tempted to have a look at backing them with some profit.

PMSL

yeah first year we finish outside the top two and sack him. transitional at the mo - desperately need reinforcement in central midfield and central defence

the big worry is the effect it will have on whether Henry signs a new contract

PS why are arsenal still only 6.4?

Scripophilist - 01 Feb 2006 20:38 - 8451 of 10502

It's a season of transition, Blackburn 1-0 Man Utd

Scripophilist - 01 Feb 2006 20:41 - 8452 of 10502

Steve, prices on Arsenal look about right based on the stats. But I think there is value in there. It's just going to be about timing. Arsenal should come out after half time looking for an instant impact. West Ham will try and defend their lead so the prices will decay but be skewed towards the end of the match.

Scripophilist - 01 Feb 2006 20:41 - 8453 of 10502

Goal Man, U 1-1

Scripophilist - 01 Feb 2006 20:44 - 8454 of 10502

Goal Blackburn, 2-1, shocking defence from Man U

Scripophilist - 01 Feb 2006 20:47 - 8455 of 10502

Goal Arsenal 1-2

No chance for me to get involved yet. Oh well!

Scripophilist - 01 Feb 2006 20:50 - 8456 of 10502

Goal Blackburn

3-1!

Harlosh - 01 Feb 2006 20:53 - 8457 of 10502

You can't rely on Utd these days Scrip!

Fundamentalist - 01 Feb 2006 20:57 - 8458 of 10502

lol John

to me they are both suffering the same problem - they both lost their ball winning midfielder who was also their captain and inspiration. Neither side have replaced them (mainly cos Chelsea buy all the central midfielders these days lol) and both have exposed brittle centre halfs by not having the midfield shield. Both have also suffered quite badly from injuries and simply cant afford to compete with Chelsea on depth of squad

Anyone know if the Ivory Coast are out of AN Cup yet - the sooner Toure is back the better
