SC,
I think your PC man is making a big song and dance about nothing. If you can live without the sound card (I'm more than happy to!!!), the HP ProLiants are really nice machines imo.
We're also thinking of getting a couple more of them for the kids to use, although we'll no doubt have to utilise the sound cards from their current machines otherwise they'll think it's the end of the world as they know it!
The only headache was finding a suitable driver for a widescreen monitor as the installed driver was a bit naff. I'm sure you'll be very pleased with your machine.

Thanks Hils. I would have done the install myself but I really haven't got time, and he will be adding it to the network, plus some other general maintenance and tweaking / moving / adding some other machines that need linking in, so there's a lot to do and it will take him half the time than it takes me.
edit: I'm adding a Matrox twin head card for graphics, as it will also run my computerised test chart (not for trading!) so the graphics shouldn't be a problem.

I'm using Outlook 2003.
I have just noticed that I have a Contacts folder with 1087 items.
I also have one called Contacts in Personal Folders with 1057 items.
I don't need two and would like to combine them without creating duplications.
Any clues, chums?

Optimist,
Ref posts 8441/43.

Lost some passwords but everything else OK.
Tks

Opt,
Should I be looking at my 'profile'? I saw references to it when I Googled my problem.
Thanks for the advice. I'll pursue it when you give me a view on the above.

TP, I believe if you export outlook .PST files to another back-up .pst file you have facility to block duplication. You can then import the backup files into another .pst under the name you wish without the duplications.
I would make duplicate copies before doing so.
If this fails export both files to "exel", use it facilities for "ordering" or "indexing" and edit out duplicates and re-import back into a .pst file named what you wish.

Yes you need sort_records with an eproc :-)

Klal, I'm using the C4280 photo smart printer and assuming it's only slightly different from a 4580 is very good at all general printing, the only snag I've found with mine is it does'nt like small envelopes to print for my business, the ink cartridges foul up on the envelope. So my trusty 820C still comes in handy. it's also very quick. Cheers BB

Klal - I'm pleased with my Brother MFC465CN bought recently from IJTDirect.co.uk. The deal was the printer came free so long as you bought three sets of compatible inks at a cost of 53.83 plus vat. It's a four-in-one machine with print, fax, scan and copy facilities. I don't work it hard and haven't tried the fax or scan options yet, but printing and copying is fine. I'm just about to replace the black ink for the first time since installation on June 19. Only snag I've come across was one paper jam which was a bit of a pig to sort but it was probably my fault initially for not fanning the paper first. I've deduced how their "free" printer deal works. Normally you would expect a set of branded inks when you buy a printer but these are removed. But it still seems a good deal when checking the price comparison sites.

Opt,
In my fiddling around I sussed out which was the .pst file I did my import from my old laptop.
I clicked 'Close' on it and it went away - and has not come back. The other file is the one with the larger number of contacts and a huge (deliberately unarchived) diary.
I seem to be have cracked the problem.
Thanks for your interest and help.
