Hils
Just watching at the moment - must admit I have not really been down to 1 and 5 minute charts very often - but it's interesting. Maybe Tantric Trading only gives the desired effect if you're Sting :)

Anyhow, I'm also noticing (in the short period of time I've been "quickying") that the Parabolic SAR seems to correspond with potential trigger points - I think I'm beginning to now understand your attraction to them.

Probably not that good a day for trading this (or any) way because of the "cabling" effect - up/down/lack of clear direction but I get the idea. Agree it's nice and simple.

Will see if I can get a day pass for me and Elsie to come down to the MAM Xmas Party. If you don't manage to get to the party you and Elsie can go shop(lift)ing down Kensington High Street. I think (s)he quite likes Harvey Nicks but also has a penchant for expensive jewellry shops as well - could bag a few diamonds, you never know. Only trouble is that (s)he has a tendency to stash them in rather unpleasant places - and it can take a couple of days for them to re-emerge for viewing 8-(

meggers,

Today hasn't really been the best to demonstrate the concept compared to recent days. That's because, as you rightly say, it's a strategy that works best with a trend. If you look at the 5-minute chart, there's been no clearly defined trend since about 11am. Even in situations such as that, the system has measures in place to restrict losses.

The beauty is that it enables you to simply trade "what you see". There's intuition and there's "into wishing". With that system, you don't need either!

Hiltastic
Had a dip on that rise and pulled out 15 points - nice in and out - as the curate said to the bishop.

I've been looking for something like this for a fair old while. Will road test it up to Xmas - see what I can pull in.

If nothing else it should stop my kamikaze attempts to fight the trend - been a long term problem for me - as you will have noticed. Sometimes it comes off - like the recent FTSE gains - but it had also brought me a load of losses until I finally got it right. I suppose I also need to thank Roof as well.

What the f@@k was that - just missed a spike whilst I was typing - must have been sticky fingers by some FOREX trader

chocolat - 24 Oct 2007 16:42 - 8523 of 11056

Is it just me or is netdania playing up?

hilary - 24 Oct 2007 16:54 - 8524 of 11056

I've been out for an an hour or so, Chocopops, but I seem to have a gap in my PowerCharts between 16:09 and 16:17. I've loaded NetDania and that seems to have the same gap. I'm pretty sure that they use the same FXCM feed, so I guess therein lieth the problem.

Edit: In fact I have a series of gaps, so I'm guessing the problem must be recurring.

chocolat - 24 Oct 2007 17:21 - 8525 of 11056

Thanks Hils.
Why do people keep updating stuff, huh? :S
It was fairly reliable until recently.

mg - 25 Oct 2007 10:41 - 8526 of 11056

Hils
Thanks for the recent stuff - I've noticed you like the EUR/YEN and can clearly see why. Thanks again for taking time out to explain - much appreciated.

I know it's sacrilege to say it but, using "the system" I've been long the FTSE since 07:45 this morning - only 20 points but nice confirming trade as practice.

Elsie says Hi - (s)he's really looking forward to a bit of posh shop dipping 8-)

hilary - 25 Oct 2007 10:47 - 8527 of 11056

No problem, meggers. As it happens, I'm just this minute watching for further weakness which would prompt me to close out.

Seymour Clearly - 25 Oct 2007 11:10 - 8528 of 11056

Thanks Hils, too busy to look at anything today. Have to sell up to Spectaclesavers I think.

mg - 25 Oct 2007 11:17 - 8529 of 11056

Cable beginning to look interesting after a boring patch

mg - 25 Oct 2007 11:25 - 8530 of 11056

Went long cable @20507 using the Parabolic SAR as an indicator - only playing so will reverse when the PS turns - bit of fun.

EDIT - turning out to be more than a bit of fun :)

mg - 25 Oct 2007 11:32 - 8531 of 11056

Out - made only 6 points - but interesting - especially if you start to rachet up the stake - but will wait until I've crash tested a bit more - hmmmmmmmm.

chocolat - 25 Oct 2007 11:34 - 8532 of 11056

chocolat - 25 Oct 2007 11:47 - 8535 of 11056

Having pc blips here this morning - dunno if it has anything to do with the chart thingie playing up again.

Talk you through a few things later if you like, meggers.

hilary - 25 Oct 2007 11:48 - 8536 of 11056

Just seen it, Chocopops Inspector Clouseau.

Do you want me to send you what I sent to meggers and Seymour?
