How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Have had a lump on Wales +26.5 at 1.3 and some kind soul just gave me 1.99 for 100 at 0-0 after 5 mins lol

Fundamentalist - 04 Feb 2006 17:03 - 8536 of 10502

glad i got out at 1.08 - another converted try will see this done by 0.5 pts

Hi Steve

Only caught the 2nd half of rugby but Eng seemed to have struggled until the last 10-15mins.

Too many mistakes from both teams

Fundamentalist - 04 Feb 2006 17:10 - 8539 of 10502

Bak

been a pretty poor game as both sides have turned over so much ball but ultimately England have just been too big and too strong up front for the Welsh

PS Birmingham must be one hell of poor side not to score against Arsenals makeshift defense today

bakko - 04 Feb 2006 17:14 - 8540 of 10502

I was scalping Eng throughout the 2nd half and must admit to feeling quite nervous as could have got caught out at any moment but have a safe profit now.

Fundamentalist - 04 Feb 2006 17:15 - 8541 of 10502

Ive only played the handicap markets as couldnt see any value in the match odds but got a nice profit on both the +16.5 and the +26.5 markets :-)

at least wales scored 1 try - might have limited Dils liability a fraction

bakko - 04 Feb 2006 17:17 - 8542 of 10502

Will you be watching Man U next?

bakko - 04 Feb 2006 17:24 - 8543 of 10502

Man U 1-0 up

ptholden - 04 Feb 2006 17:30 - 8544 of 10502

Weekend at home, with three profitable matches on the footy. Seemed to have some problems with the Betfair site today, anyone experience the same? Although I'm now running off a wireless router so perhaps that may have been to blame?

bakko - 04 Feb 2006 17:31 - 8545 of 10502

Man U 2-0

bakko - 04 Feb 2006 17:33 - 8546 of 10502

Hi pth

Nice trading but betfair ok at this end

Fundamentalist - 04 Feb 2006 17:33 - 8547 of 10502

was going to Bak but looks like i missed out whilst taking the dog for a walk

gonna take a look at the african nations game

bakko - 04 Feb 2006 17:39 - 8548 of 10502

Steve,

I wouldn't bother now as no chance of trading on it. Man U look very comfortable and should go on to win easily.

I ordered it just after KO and jumped on to scalped a few and greened up but just missed the 2nd goal. At least profit has more than paid for the game.

Fulham just scored so 2-1 now. Game on again!

bakko - 04 Feb 2006 17:40 - 8549 of 10502

3-1 now

Goal feast!!

bakko - 04 Feb 2006 17:43 - 8550 of 10502

Last ManU goal was very dubious. Very clear offside.

Coleman went ballistic on the touchline!

Fundamentalist - 04 Feb 2006 17:44 - 8551 of 10502

more scraps than goals if the african nations cup game

cameroon look a fairly good price to me - will look to have a small back after half time i think

Fundamentalist - 04 Feb 2006 17:44 - 8552 of 10502

man u game - any unquoted score at 1.28 after 25 mins lol

bakko - 04 Feb 2006 17:54 - 8553 of 10502

It's 3-2 now. Game on once more!
