Dowgate Capital - Capitalising on the booming AIM market (DGT)

overgrowth - 09 Feb 2005 20:52

Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting in the middle of a goldmine!

This company through their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year. Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund placements on behalf of the companies they represent.

On first sight, the fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think again!

DGT bring new companies to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated" on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring income).

Because DGT also act as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work, they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash to speed growth.

Current NOMADships: 28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000 per year)

Current on-going Brokerage agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)

For flotations, depending on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000 to 100,000+ For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12% of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000 ! These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket. Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for years, with DGT having to do very little. New clients gained in 2005 are:

Mediazest (NOMAD & broker) Elite Strategies (NOMAD) Process Handling (NOMAD) Poland Investment Fund (NOMAD) Nanotech Energy (NOMAD & broker) Archimedia Ventures (NOMAD & broker) Red Leopard Holdings (NOMAD) Alba Mineral Resources (NOMAD & broker) Intandem Films (NOMAD & broker) Motive Television (NOMAD) IncaGold (NOMAD) Sportswinbet (NOMAD & Broker) Infoscreen Networks (NOMAD & Broker) Mark Kingsley (NOMAD & Broker) Croatia Ventures (NOMAD & Broker) Pantheon Leisure (NOMAD) Firenze Ventures (Ofex Advisor) FlightStore Group (NOMAD & Broker) Euro Capital Projects (NOMAD) Pearl Street Holdings (NOMAD) Worldwide Natural Resources (Ofex Advisor) Dovedale Ventures (Ofex Advisor) Other 2005 work completed:Neptune-Calculus VCT offer for subs of up to 12 million Advisory work for TGM on London Bus disposal for 20.4M Advisory work for Creightons on property disposal Advisory work for Hampton Trust on company restructuring Advisory work for Interbulk Investments on acquisition of Inbulk Advisory work for Fundamental-e Investments on two disposals Advisory work for Designer Vision re: Design Rights against Centurion Electronics

Ted - TR has just released an upbeat trading statement:

Loads of buys coming in now...

"Company Dowgate Capital PLC
TIDM DGT
Headline Trading Statement
Released 13:17 21-Jun-05
Number 8459N

Dowgate Capital plc

Trading Statement

The Board of Dowgate Capital plc (Dowgate or the Company) notes the recent rise in the Companys share price.

In earlier statements, the Board noted its cautious optimism that good progress was being made in the current financial year by City Financial Associates Limited (CFA) the Companys wholly owned subsidiary. Since our preliminary statement issued on 19 April progress has continued as CFA has benefited from a buoyant AIM market. This, combined with a renewed focus and dedication to client service, has led to a better than anticipated flow of business and a higher than expected ratio of completed transactions, all of which are detailed on the Companys website, www.cityfin.co.uk. CFA has also managed to retain tight control on its fixed costs following their reduction referred to in our full year statement.

The team at CFA, led by Tony Rawlinson, is fully committed to reverse the previous losses of the Company. The Board is optimistic that a satisfactory outturn will be announced for the 6 months ending 30 June 2005 once the results for this period have been finalised, expected to be in the second half of August. "

Oh boy, not showing up yet.

sidtrix - 21 Jun 2005 13:42 - 861 of 2787

sell .68 buy .71

Would have expected a bigger jump than that... well am sure we will be in late 70's or early 80's within an hour or two

stockdog - 21 Jun 2005 15:15 - 862 of 2787

Well done Tony - another masterpiece of understatement helping the SP rise through an orderly market without spiking horribly. Not often a company has to issue a TA to calm fears that the results will be too good! As one of the regulars says on SEO thread, "Warning, shares can seriously increase your wealth. The price can go up as well as down. You may get back more than you paid!"

No worries, no hurries - we'll get there all in good time. More than 50% since I first started buying these in March and plenty more to go still.

Great day for DGT and all her investors.

Brilliant piece of timing by TR. Have been out all day and following yesterday's slowdown in buying, fully expected a retracement today. TR has clearly demonstrated that he has the shareholder's interests fully at heart (including his own). I am tres impressed. Does anyone know if that 2M trade was a but or sell? Incredibly close spread for DGT at times today. This now has attained the interest of the MMs.

Think I might keep away from the 'Zoo' I just get wound up!!

Didn't think he would take long to re-appear. Shame he's talking out of his ass, but from what little I read of his posts he seems to have a habit of doing that! Amazing how these people crawl out of the woodwork when things start going well and can think of nothing better to do than post utter crap. I rest comfortable in the knowledge that I have a substantial DGT holding and I am well in profit.

I think TR's statement will take a little while to settle in and following the fantastic rise over the last few weeks, would expect something of a cooling off period. Looking good for the Interims, has hoped for July, but content to wait for August.

Perhaps Shares Mag would like to do an update?

Just catching up on the day and seen the trading statement which is great news.

Out of interest when I looked on screen a few times during the day I didn't pick up on it because their was no "N" symbol against DGT in my stockwatch. Other shares had it but not DGT. Looking through posts here no-one seems to have mentioned it so was it showing up on yours or is there a reason for it's omission? ( The statement is there when I click on the DGT symbol and go through to latest news- but not the alert on the main screen)

slmchow - 21 Jun 2005 19:05 - 869 of 2787

There was no "N" symbol on my stockwatch here too but on the iii site 'N" was showing for DGT

ptholden - 21 Jun 2005 19:10 - 870 of 2787

I have spoken to Ian (AM) and requested that all the old CFP data is imported into the DGT Charts, I suspect that the N omission is probably related.

Nice to hear from you, Tony. Understand you don't have time to work the figures out for yourself, so tis good of you to put all the transactions on the website so that we can do it for ourselves. You'll be pleased to learn that your optimism is justified and you will will certainly be able to report an interim profit. Still another eight days to improve them further so tis good to know that your level of commitment hasn't waned.

I thought that nice message from Tony (Rawlinson not Blah) deserved a nice reply. Its good of the MMs to hold the price back so that anyone who reads this bb can top up and double their money be the end of August! Isn't everything wonderful - and my daughter-in-law has gone into hospital (Addenbrooke's, praise be) to have her baby early.

Eric

Best of luck for the daughter, looking forward to seeing you next week. perhaps you would like to put up 100,000 DGT shares for nearest the pin?

pth

stockdog - 21 Jun 2005 21:56 - 873 of 2787

That would only leave Eric with 2.9m of them!

Eric, TR took the words right out of my mouth. I did offer to put together the interim report for him, but he though he could probably manage it in-house (oh, yeah! after he'd seen me do all the work - typical!) and save my fees off the overhead.

Roll on August. How about putting up 100,000 shares for whoever is nearest the profit before taxto end of June? That'll leave 2.8m, but still enough to pay for the christening I reckon.

overgrowth - 22 Jun 2005 14:34 - 874 of 2787

It looks as though we've got some delayed buys to come through later keeping the price moving in the right direction.

In pth's "zoo" recently there have been comments about the new AIM rules for shell companies - i.e. that they have to make an acquisition within a year or get kicked out.

This suggests that DGT will be getting lots of commission for placements as the year progresses - very tricky to estimate the revenue though we're probably looking at around 3-4% brokers commission for the amounts likely to be raised.

This means that even if new floats tail off slightly in H2, that there should be plenty of income coming in from placements.

All looking very healthy from here.

Is everyone playing golf today ?

Hi OG

Just got back in from the course and very hot it has been. Always amazes me when a company issues an upbeat trading statement and small investors sell. What's all that about? their loss, patience will be the key over the next few months and hopefully years. I don't think TR has put a foot wrong yet. Will be interesting to finally see the interims and try and guage what sort of fees DGT attain through work other than placings, ie TGM. May give us an idea for the Finals next year. Agree with this cash shell stuff, I'll have to look and see how many DGT's clients are shell, although I think not very many.

By the way, I see Hotgroup are on a bit of a roll at the moment. Sure DGT have warrants or shares, but can't remember exactly what. Will try and find out later on.
