I'm fascinated by your charts, Bud, but I must admit to being confused by them. I've drawn my own chart. Can you tell me please whether I should be long or short?

:o)

MightyMicro - 01 Nov 2007 07:53 - 8705 of 11056

I should cut out the breakfast voddie, Hil . . .

Buderim - 01 Nov 2007 08:28 - 8706 of 11056

LOL

Hi Hil,

I guess it does look a bit like yours :)

johngtudor - 01 Nov 2007 08:44 - 8707 of 11056

Hi Buderim,

What are those colours and more importantly how do you use them...do we need some 'coke' to get the interpretation in focus!

Buderim - 01 Nov 2007 09:42 - 8708 of 11056

Hi John,

I am a Pepsi man so I dont touch coke !!!

The colours are different moving averages , the more they fan out the stronger the trend is.

I use the black line crossing out of the bands as my entry which you can see on the previous chart .

It is just something I am playing around with

Chocolat still taking divers out weekends to the weather breaks, have been trying to learn this game for the last 3 winters but not there yet.

johngtudor - 01 Nov 2007 10:06 - 8710 of 11056

Hi Buderim,

Thanks your last.....please let us know if you think it helps....and how. I have tried to incorporate Updata into my trading for the last year or so, but it's not working out for me. Keep up the sugared water intake, whatever they say about health additives I think it's good for you!!

Hils...do you still use that complex system to add to positions when they are going in your favour or have you refined it since you last posted the method?

Thanks, John

hilary - 01 Nov 2007 12:42 - 8711 of 11056

You mean pyramiding? In which case the answer is both yes and no.

I've basically got 3 different strategies which employ different timescales. Recently, my lifestyle has changed a bit and I'm able to spend more time at the PC. Because of this I've started employing the faster charts (1-minute) which I've not really used that much previously. I'm obviously looking to spend less time in positions and the answer is an emphatic NO I don't add.

My slower strategy uses longer timescales and looks to capture much bigger moves of several hundred pips over days or even weeks. In those instances, YES I do add.

Psychologically, I've got an issue with being one side of a market short term whilst the other side of it longer term and am therefore tending not to use my slow strategy. There's nothing wrong with it though, and I think it's something that I need to address.

Daisy, 'lifestyle has changed', I know you are a bit long in the tooth so have you taken your pension at 60 like Choccie?

Hotei - 01 Nov 2007 12:55 - 8713 of 11056

The riposte, when it comes, is going to be savage ...

hilary - 01 Nov 2007 12:56 - 8714 of 11056

Hey, Choccie's a lot younger than me!

chocolat - 01 Nov 2007 12:56 - 8715 of 11056

I love you Hils :)

Please please say you'll have my babies.
