How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Evening all

just laid Egypt at 1.07 with a few minutes left only to watch the ref turn down a stone wall penalty in the last minute to Senegal :-(

win some you lose some

bakko - 07 Feb 2006 19:38 - 8700 of 10502

Hard luck on that one Steve.

Will be watching Birmingham v Reading. Haven't an opinion on it yet and will wait and see what happens.

Scripophilist - 07 Feb 2006 20:23 - 8701 of 10502

Reading is my local club. They are not bothered about the FA CUP they just want to keep players fit to win the championship and get promotion. I don't think they will win unless Brum are dire.

bakko - 07 Feb 2006 20:28 - 8702 of 10502

Evening Scrip,

Brum are 1-0 up

Fundamentalist - 07 Feb 2006 20:30 - 8703 of 10502

not been watching - can someone explain to me why a prem club, at home and 1-0 are up are still available at 1.6 - looks a steal?

bakko - 07 Feb 2006 20:34 - 8704 of 10502

Add the fact that Reading aren't too interested in tonight's replay. They were very disappointed when the first game ended up a draw.

Anyway, I've jumped on board at 1.6

Fundamentalist - 07 Feb 2006 20:39 - 8705 of 10502

me too bak

nice to have company :-)

bakko - 07 Feb 2006 20:59 - 8706 of 10502

1.6 doesn't look value anymore as 1-1. :-(

Fundamentalist - 07 Feb 2006 21:02 - 8707 of 10502

ouch :-(

went down to have my dinner to come back and see 1.6 has become 3.6

bakko - 07 Feb 2006 21:05 - 8708 of 10502

At least there's time for Brum to score another.

Come on Brummies!

Fundamentalist - 07 Feb 2006 21:12 - 8709 of 10502

bakko - 07 Feb 2006 21:17 - 8713 of 10502

Scripophilist - 07 Feb 2006 21:40 - 8714 of 10502

Never in doubt!

I didn't have a bet though, family is still ill so catching up on some long overdue paperwork while none of them are rushing back and forth to the sink to be sick! Can't understand how I am not ill yet.

schiff - 08 Feb 2006 20:40 - 8715 of 10502

What a laugh! They spend several fortunes on players and the last time I saw a pitch like that was when I played for an amateur team on park pitches in 1900 and something.

Scripophilist - 08 Feb 2006 20:51 - 8716 of 10502

I must be watching a different match I can't see a football pitch anywhere.

Fundamentalist - 08 Feb 2006 21:41 - 8717 of 10502

Scrip

should watch the game on sky

Real Madrid are 6-1 down to Zaragoza

AdieH - 09 Feb 2006 12:58 - 8718 of 10502

Hi, Can someone please advise on this, recently I placed a bet on betfred (shop) on african nations cup, Drogba top goal scorer 6/1 and ivory coast to win 4/1, the bet was a 5.00 double win. The bet was accepted at the shop and they duly took my money (also had win double on eto, cameroon), they are now saying that this is a related bet and they are now only going to take as 2.50 singles..... Is this correct, surely if they have accepted the bet and taken my money this bet should stand as the original bet states? Not my fault their staff don't know their jobs???? Any info would be appreciated...
