Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

jimmy b - 19 Apr 2016 09:37 - 870 of 12628

Stan you have no opinion ,now shut up and crawl back up Fred's skirt .

grannyboy - 19 Apr 2016 09:42 - 871 of 12628

There are TWENTY SEVEN other countries in the eu bloc, of course it would be good if WE sold them more then they sold us, but its a numerical number, trade with the eu has been falling over the years, and leaving the EU would give us the opportunity to trade with the commonwealth with a market of 1.5 billion and other parts of the world 4 billion+....But that's what you call trading with others and it should'nt mean having to pay BILLIONS and be forced to have free movement of labour, and be ruled by an entity to do so...

There's also unemployment in the 18-25 year age of nearing 50% in several eu countries, because its a failed project....

OK I get it .....you're saying we buy all what they currently sell us if they buy what we currently sell them. Smart. Don't you see we lose. You're happy that in order for us to have access to the EU market we have to take more EU stuff than we sell them.

Please say it ain't so.

will10 - 19 Apr 2016 09:50 - 873 of 12628

Grannyb

No problem trading with the rest of the world , if there is business out there let's go get it. But are we not doing that now.? I thought we had call centres in India and sold Trench coats and Rolls Royces to China and Saudis already.
Surely we haven't been sitting on our arises all this time.
What makes you think we will be better at it out of EU.
EU is our biggest market.

Victim

Thx for the love

Was only saying better in EU than out.
But I understand most here already set in their ways. All you want is slapping each other on the back appreciation club.

I'll just listen in then.

VICTIM - 19 Apr 2016 09:59 - 875 of 12628

Basically shut up and get back to your job really isn't it . Love you bye .

jimmy b - 19 Apr 2016 10:00 - 876 of 12628

will your not even making sense now.

Our NHS is in serious trouble ,schools can't cope ,some of our towns are now like living in Eastern Europe ,immigration is totally out of control ,if we stay in we will have to take hundreds of thousands of migrants from the ME ,as granny says the EU is a failed project .
I believe the UK will vote out on June 23rd and i can't wait .

PS i also think if we vote out it will be the start of the end of the EU ,Sweden wants out Holland is moving that way and the Germans have had enough of Merkel and being flooded with migrants .

iturama - 19 Apr 2016 10:08 - 877 of 12628

The success of the EU, without the UK, can be measured by the amount of people wanting to work here from those parts. I don't blame them. Their countries have failed them. Now the failed leaders of those countries have equal voice in saying how to run the EU with those that are taking care of their economic emigrants.
The project simply cant work without full integration of laws, wages, benefits, currency etc etc. Lorded over by grandees as in China. That ain't going to happen. I have less worry about people coming here to work than being attached to the hip with a clearly failed ideology led by an equal opportunities committee based upon nationality rather than ability. It can't work and won't work. The sooner people realise that and revert back to the EEC, the better. Chuck the Euro into the dustbin of history. Only Germany has benefited from it.
The EU will be a mess after we leave, with people from other countries that are being sucked dry demanding their voice be heard too. But you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs.

I would suggest some look at the above and consider:

Approximately 40%+ of UK exports are to the EU.

Approximately 10% of EU exports are to the UK.

Suggesting that we are more economically dependent on the EU than the EU is on the UK.

I am sure, that the 10% can be obtained from other than the UK.

Also consider the route for a lot of the exports to the EU and further is via Dunkirk, Calais, Rotterdam, etc., or Eurotunnel and across France, Netherland, Belgium and rest of Europe.
(Negotiate, the paperwork the licences etc.. with the various authorities less than interested in the UK. Consider the holdups at borders and consider the costs. UK costs. Why the hell should remaining EU countries bear the costs?.)

But of course, if we have problems abroad we can always send our remaining gunboat to settle problems or conflicts and call upon the EU to come to our aid, especially as we will have rejected them and the organisation.

Again, it is interesting that more countries wish to become members of the EU than leave. Other than a small pack of loonies the majority of the EU countries wish to remain in the EU. Change the rules, negotiate, why not? Destroy the institutions, NO.

But, Little Englanders behaving like wayward adolescents, always demanding to be in charge and have they have their “rights” satisfied, forget that they represent approximately 10% of the population of the EU.

The Brexiters are behaving like spoilt little children, who have had their toys taken of them and taking their bat and balls home unless everybody plays by their rules.

The majority of EU institutions, universities, research agency, intellectual data agencies, businesses etc. are already cooperating.

It is time to grow up and accept that the UK is part of Europe and the rest of the world and has a responsibility to undertake.

VICTIM - 19 Apr 2016 11:07 - 879 of 12628

The fact the EU is nearly bust seems to get overlooked , the countries that want to join are basket cases any way . There is less and less money to bail these countries out as Merkel keeps dishing it out like confetti . Greece is yet to appear again so expect trouble soon there . This country will again be a target for many thousands of migrants overloading the system evermore . I wonder Dave and co are so keen to stay , is it they are afraid we could cause the fall out , anyway it seems it's a we will fall together and be dammed , rather than a we will leave and be stronger when EU goes down . I've some articles saying Germany will cause the failure , and these are written by Germans .

cynic - 19 Apr 2016 11:09 - 880 of 12628

why is it fred, that you are totally incapable of making your point about staying in europe without deriding and belittling those of other persuasion

imo, the eu hierarchy have no interest whatsoever in the necessary root and branch reform, and the larger that community gets, the more impossible any significant change will become

there are many good arguments for staying, but if "leave" carries the day, or even makes it a damn close run thing (waterloo!), the more likely it is that the disaffected, of whom there are growing numbers, within other member states will make themselves heard ever more loudly

jimmy b - 19 Apr 2016 11:13 - 881 of 12628

Because cynic Fred is a bigoted old ignorant drunk who likes to insult people in the most nasty way he can ,but we are all capable of that Fred .

jimmy b - 19 Apr 2016 11:14 - 882 of 12628

Anyway Cameron should be ashamed of himself.

Cynic

I think you're in a position to say . If your Company trades in and out of the EU. How do you see us being on the outside effecting your business? Has being in the EU effected you trading in other parts of the world?. Will it help your business in or out?

Just asking.

cynic - 19 Apr 2016 11:46 - 887 of 12628

somewhat strangely, most of our biz is conducted further afield

we are also not operators (transporters) so though a lot of our kit goes in and out of rotterdam and antwerp ports, i think it is covered under slightly different rules - eg we have no probs in usa or south america
nearly all transport companies will have co-respondents of some kind in the receiving country, and that is what no doubt gets around many difficulties

also, our company has been registered for a number of years in NL and so again, any probs in that respect would be avoided

Gove attacks Remain 'bogeymen' claims

Justice Secretary Michael Gove accuses the Remain campaign of treating voters like children to be "frightened into obedience", as he puts the EU exit case.
