How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Any thoughts on the Nigeria/Senegal game? Staying out for now to see how things develop.

Bak

never put in the race and given too much to do - hence the lumps before the off lol

John

watched the last ten mins - looks too much like a friendly to me - only temptation would be the draw price collapse

Harlosh - 09 Feb 2006 17:24 - 8733 of 10502

Yes. Thats what I'm looking at now Steve.

bakko - 09 Feb 2006 17:28 - 8734 of 10502

Thanks Steve.

Haven't a clue on Nigeria game as not watching but could try draw collapse.

Harlosh - 09 Feb 2006 17:48 - 8735 of 10502

Layed off and greened up in nice time before goal is scored.

Aus vs Sri Lanka cricket just got interesting - pretty much a level game now

my book looking messy though :-(

Fundamentalist - 10 Feb 2006 09:31 - 8737 of 10502

turning into a cracking game and my book a little tidier now though currently with the SL, a wicket or two wouldnt go a miss

bakko - 10 Feb 2006 09:32 - 8738 of 10502

Morning Steve

Didn't even know there was a game on. Anyway, will wait and see before jumping on this.

Fundamentalist - 10 Feb 2006 09:33 - 8739 of 10502

and right on cue another run out :-)

Having backed the Aussies at 1.57 im digging myself out of a rather large hole at the moment

Fundamentalist - 10 Feb 2006 09:37 - 8740 of 10502

Bak

fyi India v Pakistan 2nd ODI tomorrow, Aus vs SL 2nd Final Sunday

Fundamentalist - 10 Feb 2006 09:59 - 8741 of 10502

Fundamentalist - 10 Feb 2006 10:09 - 8742 of 10502

Horse Racing today:

Ayr has been abandoned and Bangor re-inspect at 11am as to whether meeting will go ahead though not too optimistic by the sounds of it

bakko - 10 Feb 2006 11:25 - 8744 of 10502

Steve

I assume your trade worked out in the end. Well done.

I climbed on board SL at 1.10. Sweated a bit when it drifted out to 1.17 and almost cut the trade. Then came the 9th wicket :-)

Fundamentalist - 10 Feb 2006 11:30 - 8745 of 10502

Yes bak

got out with a small profit so happy

Scripophilist - 10 Feb 2006 11:32 - 8746 of 10502

Bangor looks on, though may suffer a lot of rule 4's today?!?

Denman has been matched at 1.01 already in the 15:35 thanks to a big rule four this morning. Currently priced at 1.15

Scripophilist - 10 Feb 2006 11:35 - 8747 of 10502

Held over till noon now. I wish they would make their mind up!

Fundamentalist - 10 Feb 2006 11:38 - 8748 of 10502

Be some people sweating scrip

have a look at the 15.35 and the perils of R4 deductions

Someone backed denman at approx 1.5, then Black Jack Ketchum was withdrawn which after the reduction factor means the bet on denman is now at 1.01 lol.

Its at 1.12 currently
