Dowgate Capital - Capitalising on the booming AIM market (DGT)

overgrowth - 09 Feb 2005 20:52

Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting in the middle of a goldmine!

This company through their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year. Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund placements on behalf of the companies they represent.

On first sight, the fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think again!

DGT bring new companies to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated" on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring income).

Because DGT also act as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work, they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash to speed growth.

Current NOMADships: 28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000 per year)

Current on-going Brokerage agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)

For flotations, depending on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000 to 100,000+ For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12% of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000 ! These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket. Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for years, with DGT having to do very little. New clients gained in 2005 are:

Mediazest (NOMAD & broker) Elite Strategies (NOMAD) Process Handling (NOMAD) Poland Investment Fund (NOMAD) Nanotech Energy (NOMAD & broker) Archimedia Ventures (NOMAD & broker) Red Leopard Holdings (NOMAD) Alba Mineral Resources (NOMAD & broker) Intandem Films (NOMAD & broker) Motive Television (NOMAD) IncaGold (NOMAD) Sportswinbet (NOMAD & Broker) Infoscreen Networks (NOMAD & Broker) Mark Kingsley (NOMAD & Broker) Croatia Ventures (NOMAD & Broker) Pantheon Leisure (NOMAD) Firenze Ventures (Ofex Advisor) FlightStore Group (NOMAD & Broker) Euro Capital Projects (NOMAD) Pearl Street Holdings (NOMAD) Worldwide Natural Resources (Ofex Advisor) Dovedale Ventures (Ofex Advisor) Other 2005 work completed:Neptune-Calculus VCT offer for subs of up to 12 million Advisory work for TGM on London Bus disposal for 20.4M Advisory work for Creightons on property disposal Advisory work for Hampton Trust on company restructuring Advisory work for Interbulk Investments on acquisition of Inbulk Advisory work for Fundamental-e Investments on two disposals Advisory work for Designer Vision re: Design Rights against Centurion Electronics

Mornin all,
Tightest spread I've seen for a while, first buy in onwards and upwards. Still no new work coming through. Come on TR pull one more out the hat before the end of the month. Another fine day 22 degrees already!

m0dulus - 23 Jun 2005 08:33 - 881 of 2787

just bought 170k....guys what are we looking at for short term...and long term...

overgrowth - 23 Jun 2005 08:33 - 882 of 2787

Morning Ted - you spoke too soon, just dropped back a tick again lol!

L2 back to 2v1 again so the MMs are keen to pick up shares at 0.58.

Any large buys coming in and I reckon that DGT will shoot up very quickly.

overgrowth - 23 Jun 2005 08:42 - 883 of 2787

m0dulus,

We're expecting interims (published in late August) to show a terrific turn-around in performance. Profit estimates are in the region of 500K for H1 vs 58K loss last year (this is based on published information on most of DGT's revenues which can be found in the library on their website).

Short term we will be looking at a rise to around the 1p mark. This could happen before interims on anticipation of good things, though I suspect we're more likely to see 1p being breached when new investors can see the great potential of DGT in black and white.

Provided that DGT continue to be busy in H2 then we're looking at a price of 1.25-1.5p by the end of 2005.

Longer term, DGT have plans to acquire a full broking team which will significantly increase the number (and value) of placements they deal with which is likely to add substantial profits to the recurring and float income they will receive from existing and new clients. This is likely to take them a good few steps up in the advisor/broker hierarchy getting closer to the likes of Daniel Stewart - this sort of expansion is likely to lead to a price of 5p-10p.

corehard - 23 Jun 2005 09:27 - 884 of 2787

Got 226k @ 0.61

stockdog - 23 Jun 2005 09:28 - 885 of 2787

MMs have reduced the bid to try to shake out some sellers, perhaps. Guess there's not a lot of loose stock in the market - and we all know why! I'm holding tight for og's 5p in a couple of years for a 1120% gain over 3 years - not bad at all.

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 10:20 - 886 of 2787

Good stuff by the MMs today, dare I say, something of a shake going on? Buys / sells fairly evenly matched. that 500k trade was a buy, knocked KBC off the Offer leaving WINS on 0.62. Still 2 on the Bid, so quite happy to take up the stock. Would expect to see the Buyers return in force either Friday or early next week, looking at the current retracement rate.

Why such a significant drop for evenly matched trading ?

sidtrix - 23 Jun 2005 11:38 - 888 of 2787

Was just about to top up 500k at .59 and i jumped back upto .63 lol
I know .63 also good price but already got a decent holding for long term so trying to get some at bargain price... hopefully some around .5-.55 (doubt that will happen thou)
YOU NEVER KNOW :)

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 11:39 - 889 of 2787

core

Not much has really happened today except the MMs have been moving the spread around. A few more buys will hopefully turn us blue. I wouldn't worry about short term fluctuations, DGT are having a great year thus far, which I believe will be reflected in the SP quite soon.

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 13:35 - 890 of 2787

Currently you can sell 375,000 @ 0.58p and buy 500,000 @ 0.64p

overgrowth - 23 Jun 2005 13:50 - 891 of 2787

Strange - with those sort of limits you'd expect L2 to be 1v2 instead it's 2v1 !

corehard - 23 Jun 2005 14:05 - 892 of 2787

pth - thanks... 1.8m buy against 1.5m sell @ - 2.5%

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 19:21 - 893 of 2787

Pretty good day today. The small drop was all down to movement of the spread rather than for any other reason. Buys probably outnumbered sells, so a day of consolidation. Shouldn't be too long before we start the next leg up. I noticed over in the Zoo that Andy Rawli had a buy order in for 1 million at 0.60p which wasn't filled. Guess you'll have to stop being so tight Andy and pay the market price!!

arawli - 23 Jun 2005 19:42 - 894 of 2787

Pth

LOL. Thanks for that I was penny pinching!!! I will see what happens first thing tomorrow but I will probably have to buy in at least 2 parts as the limit has been around 500k all day!

I am just glad to see we have some stability back in the price. I just hope we don't see a buy rec in any magazine this week or next which will see us spike up and down again.

All The best

Andy

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 19:49 - 895 of 2787

Andy

Your broker will proabably be able to fill the order via telephone rather than online. I've always been successful using the old dog and bone when buying chunks above the trading limits. Will save you from paying two fees!

Happy with stability and gradual, but sustainable rises from now on. Always takes a few days for the 'buy on rumour, sell on news' brigade to sell up.

pth - I agree, TDW normally insist that you call for any trades in relatively illiquid shares above NMS - though depends on who's dealing as to whether you get the best deal with the MMs or not.

I don't know about "sell on news", the only thing we don't know from all these models floating around are exactly what DGT's costs were in H1 - but we can even have a good guess at that!

Approx. 500k H1 profit should be in the bag - I'm expecting a bounce back any day now.

stockdog - 24 Jun 2005 01:02 - 897 of 2787

For the sake of the bet I'll go 550,000 H1 profit, og - let's see whose nearest (or most completely wrong!).

The retracement from 67 to 61 is just under 9% - compare this with serial 20% retracements by SEO on the way up from 4p to 24p, 3 times in the last 6 months. If you assume anyone tuned into this thread is more or less a firm investor - how many other private investors are there out there unconnected to any form of collegiate encouragement who will sell on the slightest provocation.

If it's true that buy-and-hold (aka running your profits) is where the big gains go to, it is probably true that they come from the feint-hearted who sell on modest sudden gains followed by minor sharp dips. But then they are true punters, taking an opportunistic bet on the SP. Whereas, however rough our figures are, we know we own part of a rapidly increasing profitable business with good management. Why sell?

SD,
Just in from dropping me daughter at station as she`s off to Paris for weekend with school gang and thought I`d throw in speculative 485,000 for H1.
I do believe, however, that H2 will show increasingly higher profit at 1.112m
here`s hopin` anyway. good luck and good night.

Motive Television have won a contract. No money for DGT but good to hear one of their companies is doing well.
