Sorry if I caused a stir - just looked like a conspiracy :-)
Have to say I haven't got any of meggers settings. That should let him swallow more easily...

Hi Hils,
I dont know what your system is, I just got some good ideas from your posts ,I have never looked a parabolic before , but I saw you mention it to Ruth as a good stop method, I am finding it really good for entries as well.
I have also been using a couple of Hull moving averages set at 8 and 21 which are quite fast moving and give a quite a good idea of short term trend, I have also been using a faster MACD 10,20,9 which gives good signals when used with the parabolic.
I really like the way the jpy pairs move , if your on the right side you get a bloody good ride.
When I have done a bit more testing I will send you what I have .

Nice post number 78 Hilary. I thought things were going down hill for a moment. I'm sure we all try things others are using that are postied on the thread. We're all trying to improve everyday I'm sure.
For my part, my health has taken a turn for the better so the Doc says so hope to get my head in gear again.
Now what was that I read about arrers..................

This unwinding of the carry is starting to look a bit serious now.

The $/JPY uptrend from 2005 got well and truly smashed last week.

Indeedy. The stockbrokers will be jumping soon.
Don't know if I've ever mentioned it, but my Great Grandaddy was killed in the crash of 1928. A stockbroker jumped out of his office window and landed on his shoe shine stall.
:o)

what a crackin morning for forex, not actually traded it cause some kind soul has kidnapped the cmc account for a few hours to do some investigation work for me:-)
been watching it on ib though as thats where i will end up trading it once im more comfortable, the spreads do fluctuate more than i thought they would to be honest, but need to get to grips with how it works on there, its not quiet as simple as cmc where you just type in how much you want per point:-)
would have made hundreds of points today off the signals, nearly all of them short,
stocks have been good today for moves , but still not a patch on this forex lark,
im getting hooked , once them trends start its superb,
Buderim, those are quiet nifty charts:-)
I have had many kind emails and people kind enough to give me settings or info which they dont want publicised or disclosed in the public domain , and of course i do respect and comply to such requests for confidentiallity, there are some things that just have to be kept personal :-)
This thread is great, the help is fantastic and forthcoming and i seriously think forex is the place to be, cheap dealing, big moves, low commissions, uk hours if desired , what else do u want,:-)
i do still love the yankie dankies though when i have an hour or two spare in the evening,

Ruth,
I don't know anything about IB, but what I would say is that I've seen the spread on cable on the CME futures open up to 30 or 40 pips on news. They tend to put small orders at touch with nothing backing it up behind. One side goes on the news and the spread opens up because there are no other orders behind it.

Buderim, those dotty lines on your chart that relate to ma's look interesting - makes me think of Ruth's programmed Bullish / Bearish indicators. As I tend to trade on a laptop most of the time I have limited screen estate so looking at ways to get the bigger picture and that looks quite interesting.

it;s the middle of my third full day trying to learn FX and it's a delight to see Ruth's post that things are starting to come together a bit cos I'm struggling along here.
bit by bit it's starting to make more sense but it;s pretty clear I've got a mountain to climb. it's also pretty clear to me that I can only learn so much a day and that at the moment i've got information overload.
Dont know about crunchy nuts. It'll be cornflakes from Aldi for me for the next month.

Well seem to be getting the grasp of the 1 minute chart, been playing with the eur/jpy, had 11 trades(thats more than I usually do in a week)for over 200 pips, best was for 80, worst was for -13. A big thank you to the girls for all the info, think i probably owe you a drink.
I also read an article over the weekend that was emailed to me called "day trading" by douglas e. zalesky which I found made alot of sense and gave me alot of confidence to scalp fx, something that i've never really done before. I kept my losses small(as advised in this article), they were:-
-13, -11, -7, -4.
