foale - 16 Nov 2007 08:01 - 8950 of 11056

wish I knew...that spike down to 2.0430 seems to have brought out the buyers

hilary - 16 Nov 2007 09:01 - 8951 of 11056

Did anyone from the Rothschild family actually say "When blood is on the street, buy properties"? I've got a sneaky feeling that it might be a corruption from a Denzel Washington film of the more commonly known phrase "Buy when the cannons are thundering, sell when the violins are playing".

There's more than a fair share of sensationalism in that Rob Grespi article. I'm surprised he didn't suggest a mass culling of specific races to ease the looming social and economic problems.

We could always practise with the Scots and the Welsh.

I was thinking more of the French actually Gofe. It seems such a waste that they've been given all those nice mountains, lovely beaches and acres of vineyards.

I found the BBC News article yesterday on the situation in Detroit quite sobering.

Boarded up houses, deserted streets.

It showed in stark reality how close many middle income families are to financial calamity, especialliy in the US with it's third world benefit system.

The family shown, a typical middle class American family. Nice house, nice car, reasonably paid job.

Eight months down the line, no job, house facing repossession and no money to even buy a loaf of bread or a bottle of milk.

And to think there are 1 million people in the same situation just in Detroit.

The news article stated that it was not a certainty that this contagion would spread to other areas of the USA.

From what I gather large swathes of Phoenix, Arizona look exactly the same.

Srong dollar (Paulson), no recession (Bernanke) - who are they kidding - they ought to get out more !

Re cable:

With the exception of the 1-minute chart, the MACD is below the zero line and the price action is below the ma's which happen to be heading downwards. That's for all timeframes from 5-minute through to 4-hour.

Does that make it a buy? If you think it does, then you need to be looking for the positive nature of the 1-minute to start spilling over into the 5-minute and slower otherwise you'll get toasted.

Just my opinion fwiw.

I'm just back from a sojourn in Silicon Valley, California which is my second home. The economy there is quite definitely cooling. When the apartment complexes start offering inducements to current tenants to introduce new renters, that's a sure sign that things are not so good. Gas has hit $3.50 per U.S. gallon in Northern California.

I didn't study house prices, as they tend to hold up quite well on the San Francisco Peninsula -- at least they did through the post-bubble turndown.

i sense it's all going to explode about 5 minutes after the uk closes. I seem to remember Hilary saying there was some easy money last Friday at about that time.

dow looks dire yet the carry trades aren't really unwinding.

waiting for 110 or even 109 here. have to wait until next week for that I think

goforit - 16 Nov 2007 15:35 - 8965 of 11056
