Pursuit Dynamics - A British success story in the making? (PDX)

Andy - 31 Aug 2003 11:58

Prlhead8.GIF

Pursuit Dynamics plc is a UK based research and development company, which was founded in 2000 to develop and commercialise a revolutionary pumping and propulsion technology. Pursuit Dynamics (symbol: PDX) was listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange in May 2001.

The PDX Technology is a steam-based system that has applications in both pumping and marine propulsion. It is cheap to manufacture, extremely robust, contains no moving parts and is virtually impossible to block. Pursuit Dynamics owns 100% of the Intellectual Property Rights that surround the PDX Technology.

Pursuit Dynamics is now working towards the commercialisation of the technology it has developed.

Optimist, you are right, this is a cracking short.

Pursuit Dynamics plc

('Pursuit Dynamics' or 'the Company')
IBEC Update

Pursuit Dynamics plc (AIM: PDX), the developer and exploiter of the PDX platform technology, today provides an update on the trial installation of a PDX Ethanol Reactor Tower (ERT) with Iroquois Bio-Energy Company LLC (IBEC) of Rensselaer, Indiana.

The trial ERT operating at IBEC has been temporarily suspended due to the lack of adequate steam pressure and cooling inputs from the IBEC plant, as required by the ERT to operate inside its design parameters. Despite this, the ERT achieved the same ethanol yield performance as the long-term plant average. In order to achieve the optimum yield uplift from the ERT the Company is discussing the feasibility and timing of installing additional mobile steam and cooling units. Nevertheless, it is unlikely that the results of the testing will be available by the end of the month as previously envisaged. An update will be provided following further material developments.

Making losses year after year for PDX...

3.3m Interim Loss for Pursuit Dynamics
Business Financial Newswire

Pursuit Dynamics continues to report losses with the figures for the six months to 31 March 2009 showing a loss of 3.3m which compares to a loss of 3.8m for the same period the previous year.

Results for the period include the discontinued operations at Weybridge. The decision to exit fabrication activities, along with cost cutting measures, realised a saving of 0.5m in the period compared to the first half of 2008.

At the period end the Group had a closing cash balance of 4.5m.

Commenting on the results, Chairman Andrew Quinn says:'The first half of 2009 has been difficult, but we have seen steady progress in the areas of fire suppression and decontamination.

'Revenues have started to flow in both areas since the end of the financial period and commercial visibility is increasing.

'Progress in the bio-ethanol market has been slower than we had hoped with the implementation of the ERT at IBEC experiencing delays resulting from the process and integration challenges of taking new technology into an industrial environment, rather than any shortcomings in the core PDX technology.

Optimist - 30 Jun 2009 18:28 - 902 of 1003

A loss of 3.3M as against 3.8M last year = half million profit in PDX speak ;)

hlyeo98 - 30 Jun 2009 19:26 - 903 of 1003

PDX will go to 20p eventually.

hangon - 30 Jun 2009 20:02 - 904 of 1003

I've wondered for a long time if this Co. is a goer
- the boom times are over, so what matters is "good management" and decent finances - that's cash in hand and a steady(ish) income, - so retail investors aren't diluted. I suspect any Management that hasn't delivered something . . . . and I'm not sure this business is any more valuable, after so many years.

Seems to me they've had the good times a-plenty and done little with it . . . . . don't know about their Cash position, . . .they claim to have 4.5m, but this will only see them solvent for 15 months . . . . and their potential business partners will know this.

hlyeo98 - are you seeing PDX as being on a "slipery slope" - ?

Oakapples142 - 01 Jul 2009 09:08 - 905 of 1003

After a weak interim there was not a large bail out - and the SP held up better than I would have expected. It would be unusual for it to bounce from here but PDX has a history of recovery for no particular reason. - worth watching.

hlyeo98 - 13 Jul 2009 19:50 - 906 of 1003

I think the beginning of a slippery slope is forming now for PDX.

hlyeo98 - 13 Jul 2009 19:52 - 907 of 1003

Thanks, optimist for pointing this out... shorted PDX at 98p.

Amazing how you retrospectively post at the top of the last move Justyi

anyone following this?

HARRYCAT - 16 Sep 2010 13:59 - 910 of 1003

Broker note from Mirabaud:
"Pursuit Dynamics has announced that it has entered into an agreement with National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) to form a joint venture to address opportunities for the Groups technology in the field of nuclear decontamination and decommissioning. With the UK alone holding the potential to generate tens of millions in annual profits, the tie-up we believe is a material development for the Group. We reiterate our BUY rating and increase our price target to 900p."

Oakapples142 - 16 Sep 2010 16:38 - 911 of 1003

Andy - are you still watching my little gem which I first bought for 42p !!

HARRYCAT - 20 Sep 2010 10:00 - 912 of 1003

"Pursuit Dynamics has pioneered two revolutionary technological processes - an atomiser that enables water or chemicals to be distributed in a fine mist and a reactor that mixes and heats products faster and more successfully than anything else on the market.

It has proved its kit works and it is beginning to make real headway-with large corporate customers. The shares are 355p but supporters believe they could nearly triple to 900p over the next two years. Adventurous investors should have a punt and see whether the company's fans are right says the Mail on Sunday."

HARRYCAT - 20 Sep 2010 13:17 - 913 of 1003

From T1ps - EK's position:
"As older readers might recall I was short of about 1m Pursuit Dynamics (PDX) for about five years. I then cut back - needless to add Sod's Law applied and the bargain to close was at the top. However, I remain short - albeit with a relatively trivial position. I have never changed my mind that until this company demonstrably is producing serious cash, it is seriously overvalued. And even if it were to produce cash I would still ponder how much its patents would stand pressure.
Yesterday's announcement of Pursuit emerging as Mr Supercleanup (Nuclear) is entirely in accordance with its reputation of claiming access to the big canvas. In it there are huge figures - the announcement was liberally strewn with billions - but no clear budget suggestions. So I have not changed my mind. How could I? Must I really suppose that various investors and analysts are now on the inside getting the fast track so to explain the share price buoyancy? I think not. I conclude that lunacy is in charge.
My principal reservation as to the wisdom of this stalwart stance is that the chart is ferociously upwards. But I have seen many a similar chart break with a sudden viciousness such that life is well worth living. Accordingly, the fundamental and essential view remains that it is correct to remain short of Pursuit."

hangon - 20 Nov 2010 00:05 - 914 of 1003

Up again today,(Friday), there must be something in the water.
"seriously overvalued" - yes, I'm inclined to agree - even 50p is too much; but the Market always has the last say . . . . IMHO - don't try shorting this (+DYOR).
Good luck.

ptholden - 03 Dec 2010 07:22 - 915 of 1003

Work this out

Operating loss of 7.2m

Revenue of 128,000 (yep, one hundred and twenty eight thousand - I didn't miss any noughts off)

Yesterday's closing share price 700p.

FFS, exactly how much forward earnings can there be in a share??

This has to be the most over-valued company on the LSE
