There was a snippet in todays Times saying that ringtone downloads are becoming so popular that they have exceeded CD sales for the first time.

All other downloads make their money by renting phone lines and charging 1.50/minute to do it. Calls usually take 4-5 minutes. .......ITU is the only company to:
1. Have the liscensing agreement with EMI to use ALL their songs old and new for ringtones. No-one else can have this.
2)Have a flat rate of 1.00 for a download which is texted to your phone in seconds. ITU will be working on volume.
As the advertising campaign gets going and kids find they dont have to spend tons of money for one ringtone the others will be forced under because they will not be able to compete.
As I said before ITU will get 50p from every download, EMI gets 40p and the mobile carrier gets 10p.
They got 60mill downloads in Spain and expect to more than double that here.....that equals alot of moolah. Their only costs are advertising now, which will be cheap in comparison to the returns.

I think that this weekends tv on a night time has being very dull and drap the only good thig about this pop idol on itv,itv2,bbc1 thing is that each person that makes a phone call to vote swells ITU coffers not bad at all. (-:

It seems to happen on a fair few stocks of late kind of gets your hopes up for an after hours RNS or a tick up in the morning but as long as it keeps going north i am not to bothered how much a phone vote is it do you know ? then might be able to work out how much ITU are making on a 70/30 split to ITU.
