I use Selftrade
but not for much longer.
Today they reckon my portfolio is in the red by 44 million!!!
They once had my Laura Ashley holdings valued at 8.4 milion when it was around 1k
In the past I've had to chase them to get a dividend payment I was due.
Add to theese 'abberations' the lack of any data provision or charts....I must be a muppet to still be using them!
I'm thinking of switching to Etrade, I like the look of the Power Trade account.
But DYOR

Are there any penalties for closing down a Self Trade account. I have had the same problems for the past 6 months.

I don't beleive there are any penalties for withdrawing all your cash and closing the account. There is a 5 levy to pay if you want to transfer stocks.

If you were to move due to their error...
first write in and keep copy ALWAYS...!
secondly mention ALL errors and problems and that as a result of mismanagment in dept's you have decided to take business else where...
They should not charge you, as it is NOT your fault, you are receiving the Errors outlined...
Good Luck.

Obviously Ricardo has a bigger portfolio than me. I amo only -9,464,720.27/-99.91% today.
I had a credit to my bank a/c with no notification, when I asked about it the said Oh! its a mix of tax rebate and some dividends. They seem to have stopped sending divi notifications.
I was going to change to Comdirect but having emailed them some questions on Friday I have no response by close of play today. Not so good!
Jules: Who do you use? And how good are they?
cheers

glad I am not the only one that has problems with Selftrade.
They never read e mails properly when complaining....they take ages to respond to anything ..even longer to correct their faults.
Their official Company News is rarely up to date...their share prices are often blank, and to cap it all they overspent on my account twice.
The first time I did a telephone deal and instructed the trader to use all of the funds in my sharedealing account.
A few days later I received an E Mail to state that I had over spent on my account by 93p, with numerous threats of how they would collect this. I politely told them that their trade had done his sums wrong and he had overspent.
Recently they have done the same, although this time I wanted to buy 2000 shares which a few seconds earlier were trading at 49.9 and as I had just over 1016 in my account I requested to purchase 2000 at best. Alas they did the deal at 56p and allowed my account to go overdrawn by circa 100. Their rules clearly state that they will not let you spend dosh you havent got and therefore I specificalyl asked for 2000 as I knew that if they were dearer than 49.95 I wouldnt be able to do the deal. Good job I didnt ask for 100,00 of them as I would be mega overdrawn now. Everything else with selftrade is fine though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did we ought to go to FSA or some regulatory bod???????????????
