How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Wow what a fight, if you haven't seen it try and watch the re-run, it was incredible and worth losing money to see it!

Dil, yes took a hit, big one, couldn't get out.

Aussies made a solid if unspectaular start in the ODI vs saffers, currently 100/2 off 25 overs

India gone mad in the heat? Trying to turn the last session into an ODI?

Was nicely green but have laid the draw at 1.02

bakko - 05 Mar 2006 10:28 - 9113 of 10502

Is there something happening on the cricket?? Having a bit of fun to kill the boredom??

Eng have set a 1 day field and Ind are having a go!

Ind and Eng odds have shortened considerably.

I see the US has a good all rounder now, how long before they join the world cricket scene?

india decided to use a couple of the tail enders to have a 20/20 style go, leaving Tendulkar and Kaif in case they need to shut up shop again

India price gone from 1000 to 18

bakko - 05 Mar 2006 10:39 - 9116 of 10502

bakko - 05 Mar 2006 10:48 - 9120 of 10502

My call on this is it's just to entertain the crowd and to sh*t people like me up before they both call it a day in the half hour before the close of play. After all the next test starts on Thurs.

I just hope I'm right.

Dil - 05 Mar 2006 10:49 - 9121 of 10502

lol , me too bak

WOODIE - 05 Mar 2006 10:51 - 9122 of 10502

went out for 1 hour whats going on

bakko - 05 Mar 2006 10:53 - 9123 of 10502

Woodie..Just find the nearest toilet!

compoundup - 05 Mar 2006 10:54 - 9124 of 10502

I think you're safe, Bak. I'm still green of course, just pleasant-looking large numbers on England or India win. India might as well have a go because as Steve said they can always shut up shop if they start to lose wickets.

IMO the market hasn't discounted England's situation. At 80, if the wickets do drop there is a chance for a quick buck or two.

Fundamentalist - 05 Mar 2006 10:56 - 9125 of 10502

Bak, they will only go for it if these two get the total down to very close to a hundred, be very surprised if the have a go after the next wicket if soon (they have still tendulkar and kaif to bat the draw).

Personally think its a quasi play, outside chance of getting close, but also the psychological impact

Pathan out, draw backers are safe
