Dowgate Capital - Capitalising on the booming AIM market (DGT)

overgrowth - 09 Feb 2005 20:52

Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting in the middle of a goldmine!

This company through their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year. Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund placements on behalf of the companies they represent.

On first sight, the fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think again!

DGT bring new companies to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated" on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring income).

Because DGT also act as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work, they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash to speed growth.

Current NOMADships: 28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000 per year)

Current on-going Brokerage agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)

For flotations, depending on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000 to 100,000+ For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12% of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000 ! These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket. Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for years, with DGT having to do very little. New clients gained in 2005 are:

Mediazest (NOMAD & broker) Elite Strategies (NOMAD) Process Handling (NOMAD) Poland Investment Fund (NOMAD) Nanotech Energy (NOMAD & broker) Archimedia Ventures (NOMAD & broker) Red Leopard Holdings (NOMAD) Alba Mineral Resources (NOMAD & broker) Intandem Films (NOMAD & broker) Motive Television (NOMAD) IncaGold (NOMAD) Sportswinbet (NOMAD & Broker) Infoscreen Networks (NOMAD & Broker) Mark Kingsley (NOMAD & Broker) Croatia Ventures (NOMAD & Broker) Pantheon Leisure (NOMAD) Firenze Ventures (Ofex Advisor) FlightStore Group (NOMAD & Broker) Euro Capital Projects (NOMAD) Pearl Street Holdings (NOMAD) Worldwide Natural Resources (Ofex Advisor) Dovedale Ventures (Ofex Advisor) Other 2005 work completed:Neptune-Calculus VCT offer for subs of up to 12 million Advisory work for TGM on London Bus disposal for 20.4M Advisory work for Creightons on property disposal Advisory work for Hampton Trust on company restructuring Advisory work for Interbulk Investments on acquisition of Inbulk Advisory work for Fundamental-e Investments on two disposals Advisory work for Designer Vision re: Design Rights against Centurion Electronics

Really lucky Andy, that 300k trade had to pay 0.63p. Also something wrong with L2, the 2 MMs on the Bid are on at 0.55, showing as 0.53 for some strange reason.

sidtrix - 24 Jun 2005 15:05 - 912 of 2787

Just topped up 500k at .585 :)
PTH thats after your 300k buy... wonder why I got a better price?

Was hoping for around .55 but think by dec end .03p wont make a difference ;)

ptholden - 24 Jun 2005 15:11 - 913 of 2787

Wonder if there is a protected trade sell waiting in the wings, strange that WINS are knocking out stock so far within the 'yellow strip' Was rather under the impression that at the very worst buys had equalled sells recently. Either that or paranoia is setting in!!

Even if Paranoia sets in... just look at the figures and the trading staement!

The numbers dont lie.... share price is way too cheap... oh well (us long term investers will see the light of day)
Let MM's & day traders have their fun :)

sidtrix - Amen to that !!!!!

sid

Very happy with the trading statement and the business this year.

And there goes the sell, 720k @ 0.49p. Must have been desperate to sell at that price. I would have given him 0.50p quite happily!!

stockdog - 24 Jun 2005 15:38 - 917 of 2787

pth - I have Infoscreen in at 17.5k NOMAD and 5k Broker retainers (for 3/4 months of the year remaining) = 16,875 plus 50k transaction fees - gross total 72.5k out of 135k - about what you thought.

Nice buying andy and sid - anywhere under .60p is a good average up price IMHO. The sellers are probably the many half-traders very happy with a quick 40-50% profit and why not - whatever your plan is, trade it. Still plenty more of us longer-term holders wanting to top up and new investors attracted by an SP starting to motor.

I would expect the chart to form a nice flag now, prior to its next upward break on TR's trading announcement 1st week July (I'm guessing here, he may feel obliged to if the SP continues to be somewhat volatile).

Roll on August for the interims - just to see if we're half right, at least.

Tumbleweed again !

Ted1 - 28 Jun 2005 11:09 - 919 of 2787

Yep, eager to put the price down on any weakness. Although there isn't any really over the top if you ask me.

m0dulus - 28 Jun 2005 11:55 - 920 of 2787

why are people selling?

corehard - 28 Jun 2005 12:39 - 921 of 2787

Ted1 - 28 Jun 2005 12:41 - 922 of 2787

Short term traders most of it. Don't forget this has risen about 50% over the past couple of weeks. Would do most people. Don't panic this is destined for 1p+ with the run up to interims.

Is anyone conversant with fib. levels?

By a rough eye examination of the chart it looks as though the retracement from the last peak is just about complete, so in theory the next move should be up.

stockdog - 28 Jun 2005 18:17 - 924 of 2787

og - are we talking 50% retracement of previous peak/trough - which would be 13.5 down from 67 = 53.5p.

No, I know nothing about it, but I like the sound of the next rebound in the opposite direction from 53.5 plus 25% of 13.5 to 60.25 etc, etc, before another RNS sends the flag up the pole again to a new trading range of 73.75 - 87.25, innit (aka Eric's rule of steps).

OG, sd

Have been looking at the June chart. The SP has indeed retraced to the 50% Fib level.

Two other observations:

1. The trend since 2 June remains up.
2. The chart is forming a continuation pattern. This pattern is an ascending or symetrical triangle or a wedge, not too sure which as not all that read up on continuation patterns, but it's quite clearly there.

By drawing the rising trend line and also the downtrend since 20 June the two intersect 30 June, therefore the SP should start its next leg up on or around that date. The 50% Fib level also intersects these two trend lines perfectly.

By extrapolating from the chart the next leg up should take us to 0.72p or thereabouts.

Well, that's the theory!

I have also noted that the MMs have marked this down on very light voulmes, often with buys and sells more or less matched. Not a great deal of selling pressure there at the moment.

pth - I agree, from my very limited understanding of TA, with your description of what I have previously referred to as a TST (triangular shaped thingy!) which will be better defined when we get the upward bounce from wherever its current downward retracement decides to land. I have also heard it said that anywhere from 2/3 along the triangular development is where it may break out again - EITHER WAY! I anticipate this to be up, btw!

If it falls again tomorrow the up-trend will be broken and the SP could then drift around incapable of analysis until it forms the next decisive shape -albeit with a decent support level at 0.4p - back where we started, but very fit and raring to go when next given its head.

Thanks for the analysis guys - I'm looking forward to seeing that flag further up the pole on the good ship DGT.

Ted1 - 29 Jun 2005 09:45 - 928 of 2787

Once again an overstated drop of sp on little volume.

stockdog - 29 Jun 2005 10:57 - 929 of 2787

Very difficult to read much into the fall on such low volumes - good time to buy some more at 52p, I would think (if I had the dosh!).

ptholden - 30 Jun 2005 15:10 - 930 of 2787

Looks like the retracement may be complete, although very slim volumes once more.
