Afternoon all. Warmed scones with clotted cream and fresh strawberries on the bar for all those who are hungry (or tennis watching). Tea to accompany. All you men who so keenly watched the ladies tennis, are you tuning in today?

daves dazzlers - 04 Jul 2004 16:35 - 9140 of 23498

no jj who`s on,dont have much intrest in tennis.

seawallwalker - 04 Jul 2004 16:38 - 9141 of 23498

Dave, use an up to date firewall like Norton.

That will solve all of your trojan problems etc. and the hackers hate it!

Internet Security is a real must for anyone who uses the computer the way you do.

jj50 - 04 Jul 2004 16:39 - 9142 of 23498

dd. Rained off at the moment anyway! Rodick/Federer in mens finals. You more interested in the football I expect, so who is going to win tonight?

Socrates - 04 Jul 2004 16:40 - 9143 of 23498

Stormy
Not a collector. I buy the odd small item but mainly brouse the goodies.

jj50
I'll skip the strawberries and go with good old fashioned strawberry jam. Shall I pour?

jj50 - 04 Jul 2004 16:42 - 9144 of 23498

seawallwalker, I use Norton firewall and have had no problems. Due for renewal again though. I had heard there are a couple of cos. that do a free download that is just as good. Do you think Norton is better?

daves dazzlers - 04 Jul 2004 16:42 - 9145 of 23498

your right there, thing is i have nortons anti virus/anti spam, what else can i do .i belive alot of people have had this problem in the last few days.

jj50 - 04 Jul 2004 16:42 - 9146 of 23498

Socs. Yes please. Can I persuade you to try the home made rasp jam?

daves dazzlers - 04 Jul 2004 16:44 - 9147 of 23498

60 pound for the 2,should be.

jj50 - 04 Jul 2004 16:44 - 9148 of 23498

dd. Do you have the firewall ... it is different to just the virus protection

daves dazzlers - 04 Jul 2004 16:46 - 9149 of 23498

no i dont, but i will be installing the item,i am off for a real beer not a fantasy one now,and then a bath post later.good afternoon as they say.

jj50 - 04 Jul 2004 16:47 - 9150 of 23498

Farewell dd. Enjoy your fantasy bath!

Socrates - 04 Jul 2004 16:50 - 9151 of 23498

JJ
No raspbery jam thanks, don't like the pips.

DD
A bath! Oh I suppose there us no "R" in the month.

seawallwalker - 04 Jul 2004 17:12 - 9152 of 23498

DD problem will be solved if you put it on your machine.

JJ, I have used Norton all but one year when I tried Mac Afee. Did not like that so much.

I know you can get free downloads, and I have heard good reports on some.

I run Windows XP with every update you can get from Microsoft.

It runs sweet as a nut!

With Norton I just renewed my subscrition and it was around 25. That instead of buying new software.

I have heard that there are reported problems with people buying new cd versions of the above, and their machine goes mad so thought this was the best option.

Win XP is getting a brand new version soon, which will be free to current XP registered users, (not pirate versions). This is supposed to make it slicker that slick!

My thoughts are why change what works well and is tried and tested in respect of add ons like firewalls and virus checkers? I recently had my firewall intercept a trojan and sent the details coutesy of Norton to BT Investigatrions who later reported taking positive action against the sender. Good deal hey?

Gone on a bit and this is probably not the right BB for this so I will finish now.

Sorry all, others.

:)

jeffmack - 04 Jul 2004 17:45 - 9153 of 23498

Cant understand why everyone doesnt invest in good firewall/virus protection. All this money you spend on PC's and software you let it get wrecked for the sake of 30-50.

Anyway, there endeth the lesson. Good afternoon, had another trip to the Columbia Road flower market this morning. Car was full to the rafters time I left.

daves dazzlers - 04 Jul 2004 18:56 - 9154 of 23498

hello all, read all of the above, but i allready have nortons anti virus, plus there anti spam, and i had no problem till early last week,i have since phoned bt and i now have a blocker on .and there where is no funny numbers on our bill.
