MG, try clearing your FF cache, re-open the browser and try again. Might just do the trick.

I have upgraded FF to version 3.6.10 and it works fine with Yahoo mail.

Mega. I had some problems a few months back & I seem to remember that it would work with Mail Classic but not 'new' view of Yahoo Mail. It just sorted itself out one day.
Edit. That was on IE so probably not same problem.

Which is the better of the two, GMail or Yahoo Mail?

Anyone started with one and then changed from that one over to the other?

As an Outlook Express user, I'm also on the look out for the best way of converting from an e-mailing system on my machine to one on the web.

I would also greatly like to store my old e-mails on the web too, and in easily retrievable and readable form.

Gmail is good. Not tried Yahoo. Also if you are running a mobile phone with the Android OS, Gmail is the easiest to set up and use.

I converted from Outlook Express to Yahoo Mail some years ago and mail forwarded the existing emails to myself on the yahoo mail system. I now have them all for reference.

I find Yahoo Mail excellent. I like the amount of storage, being able to retrieve my mail from anywhere, secure & the disposeable email address feature is pretty darned good.

Cleared FF cache out and it works a treat,thanks again for all your suggestions.

Upgraded my AVG anti virus to the 2011 version, since then my PC has slowed down a lot in logging on to sites. Anyone else had this problem and if so any clues as to how to fix it? please

Sites in general as MoneyAM, like a pregnant pause after clicking the icon, maybe it's my PC is not fast enough to cope with the extras on AVG, may have to get my hand in my pocket :-)

maybe you're right. can't see any difference before/after 2011. also can't see any increase in cpu usage in task manager

This problem arose a while ago & appeared on this BB, but can't find the reference post # atm. I think AVG have included a new web page scanner (should be listed in the system tray menu) which I found delayed the loading of each page & it seemed to struggle with anything Java related (My laptop was running XP home & IE8). Eventually I gave up with AVG as the problem never got better & others seemed to have the same problem with no way to fix it. Have unistalled AVG & changed to Avast which runs without a glitch.

Harry: I use AVG (2011) and XP Professional SP3. My normal browser is either FireFox or Opera (I'm fickle) but I have not noticed this problem. I'll play around a little - it may be some esoteric setting somewhere.

I'm pretty sure that the new AVG runs slower. My AVG icon keeps turning into a windmill while it processes something or other in the background.

You can disable individual components, so I've switched off the link scanner to see what effect that has.

When I switched on my BT Yahoo browser this morning an advice notice from BT popped up suggesting that my screen resolution was not the best and recommended 1024 x 768. I popped into my display settings and noted that my screen resolution is set at 1280 x 768. Would any knowledgeable guy please recommend what I should do. TIA
