Has Stanelco got a Trademark??

http://www.greenseal.org/index.html

Bugz - 13 Sep 2005 15:33 - 9235 of 27111

Not sure Niels. That website though-Organisation is Green Seal - two separate words - not Greenseal like SEO's product. Dunno if that makes a difference coming to copywrite. I'm sure someone here know about this......

bhunt1910 - 13 Sep 2005 16:04 - 9236 of 27111

Picked this up from another board:-

"I believe that the vegetarian capsules are a huge market. As I understand it (from information manufacturers have given me) the problem previously has been that any company wishing to offer gelatine free capsules has had to produce their own, which involved a huge outlay and also they had to make sure they didn't infringe the patents of those who did offer them. This will now open the market to all those companies unable to offer vegetarian versions of their vitamins etc. I can only imagine that almost every manufacturer will adopt these capsules, in preference to gelatine, if the costs are similar and the changeover easy. "

Niels - in answer to your question do Stanelco have a Trade Mark for Green Seal - in the UK they have an application only - details below.

There is a registration in the name of Food Investments Limited which may cause problems - details below.

In the U.S. they do not appear to even have an application. Probably because of the 'Certification' mark registered there - details below. They will need to be authorised to use the Certification Mark (probably no problem there) but ANYONE will be able to use the mark once authorised. This means Stanelco WILL NOT have exclusive use of the word GREENSEAL in the U.S. Not a great choice of Trade Mark IMO. It would have been better to have a Mark that identifies it as a Stanelco product. GREENSEAL does not.

Overview
According to data from IMS Health Incorporated, or IMS, the world pharmaceutical market
size was estimated to be US$466 billion in 2003, based on audited retail sales of prescription
Pharmaceuticals and some over-the-counter products in more than 60 countries. IMS similarly
expects the global pharmaceutical market to show significant growth, despite continued
government pressure on pricing, measures for cost control and a number of widely-used drugs
going off patent, which usually results in a drop in price for those products. IMS estimates
average annual global sales to grow 18.5 per cent. and the global pharmaceutical market to
expand to US$561 billion by 2005.
According to IMS, combined sales in the 13 leading markets
increased 8 per cent. to US$309.78 billion in 12 months up to November 2003. IMS predicts a
compound annual growth rate of 9.7 per cent. to US$688 billion for the global market over the
2002-2007 period. The United States market representing nearly half of all global sales is
expected to drive most of the world wide growth over this period with a CAGR of 12.5 per cent.
North America, the worlds largest pharmaceutical market, accounted for US$172 billion of
pharmaceutical sales, or 54 per cent. of sales of the 13 key global markets. Over 70 per cent. of
the growth in the global pharmaceutical industry in 2003 came from the United States. For a
further description of the United States pharmaceutical industry, see The United States
pharmaceutical market.
