Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

cynic - 19 Apr 2016 15:49 - 926 of 12628

you mean my post 918 may not be quite so nutty after all?

VICTIM - 19 Apr 2016 15:56 - 928 of 12628

It's quite amazing all these people in authority telling us how bad leaving would be , not one got the BALLS to tell us what they will accomplish if we vote out , apparently they aren't capable of that scenario , just sucking up to EU dreamers .

cynic - 19 Apr 2016 16:02 - 929 of 12628

that's not fair at all

there are very strong arguments for staying, effectively a known open market and ongoing economic stability and all that attaches to that

the downside of the above is the ever increasing influence of (undemocratic) brussels legislation, slow absorption into a federal europe whether we like it or not, and unencumbered free movement into uk for the ever growing population of "the club"

jimmy b - 19 Apr 2016 16:04 - 930 of 12628

No your post 918 is far from nutty ,i really believe that if we leave Europe collapses within a few years or sooner and it would be the best thing that could happen.

VICTIM - 19 Apr 2016 16:05 - 931 of 12628

What's fair got to do with it , the EU is a mess .

jimmy b - 19 Apr 2016 16:06 - 932 of 12628

cynic your post 929 gives every reason to leave !!

cynic - 19 Apr 2016 16:07 - 933 of 12628

at least it was balanced - i think

VICTIM - 19 Apr 2016 16:12 - 934 of 12628

Why does everything have to balanced , are the stayers in any way balanced they are probably lying their socks off .

jimmy b - 19 Apr 2016 16:16 - 935 of 12628

You would hardly call Fred and Stan balanced would you ,one's a drunk and neither will vote even though they hate Britain.

cynic - 19 Apr 2016 16:22 - 936 of 12628

if you're dyed-in-wool either-camp, it matters not, but if you want to compare facts insofar as one can, then balanced views are much more persuasive

VICTIM - 19 Apr 2016 16:24 - 937 of 12628

jimmy there's a guy called Vernon Colman who said in 2011 that Ted Heath took us into Europe illegally , he's written a lot on the EU go to his site Vernon Coleman .

will10 - 19 Apr 2016 16:25 - 938 of 12628

Grannyboy

Go read EU notice 812 all will be explained.
UK will not get this deal.
Don't take my word, go read about it

jimmy b - 19 Apr 2016 16:33 - 939 of 12628

will10 we will not have open borders if we vote leave ,just wait and see.

jimmy b - 19 Apr 2016 16:41 - 940 of 12628

VIC i am trawling through Vernon Colman's site don't let Fred see it ,he will jump off a bridge .

will10 - 19 Apr 2016 16:50 - 941 of 12628

jimmyb

Fair enough, we will also not have open access to the single market if we leave.
Do you seriously think our leaving will suddenly mean migrants will give up at Calais and go elsewhere? Doubt it, France will let them on to the ferries and we can sort it out our side.

Grannyboy

To save you the effort of looking it up. Turkey has special EU access because it is an associate member, negotiating membership.
The reason I am sure we will not get the same deal for free access to the EU market is that we voted to leave.

cynic - 19 Apr 2016 17:00 - 942 of 12628

i think my favoured result would be a close call with "stay" just shading it ...... so i shall vote "out"

it's a slim hope, but i hope such a result would start a major shake-up with more and more of the public across all member states demanding more and more accountability and general democracy across the board

it is that that would force the change, not the cosy, internal 10-year chit-chat that actually achieves bugger all

jimmy b - 19 Apr 2016 17:05 - 943 of 12628

France will let them on to the ferries and we can sort it out our side.
----
will you do talk rubbish ,so a few hundred migrants storm the ferry and the Captain just sails does he ? don't be so utterly ridiculous , yes the odd few will make it in trucks (and international trucking was my business for years so i know all about that)
France will not push hundreds on to ferries ,your sounding like Cameron. dream on .

cynic - 19 Apr 2016 17:10 - 944 of 12628

the ferry companies would face hefty fines for allowing passengers on board without correct paperwork

Haystack - 19 Apr 2016 17:12 - 945 of 12628

Recent poll shows 53% of French would like EU referendum.
