How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

I was on the Arsenal match for the last second :-)

Big win on AC Milan and a reasonable result on the Liverpool game.

Why can't every night be like tonight ?

Well done Arsenal , be good to see them win it cos I can't stand Mourinho !

Harlosh - 08 Mar 2006 21:40 - 9308 of 10502

Yes, it was a good night Dil.

bakko - 08 Mar 2006 21:42 - 9309 of 10502

Looks like a good night all round on here...Well done all and long may it continue!

One team in Europe..........

no profits but probably the happiest on the board :-)

Anyone on the cricket this am?

Eng are 143/3 and some play has been lost but draw odds seem very low?

Surely worth a lay??

Still plenty of play with 4+ days left but I'm not sure of the forecast

Fundamentalist - 09 Mar 2006 10:37 - 9312 of 10502

Bak

be careful, weather forecast is awful for the next two days.

Have scalped the draw a bit this morning but got a bit of a thick head after last night so not getting too hevily involved, especially as not around for the next few days

bakko - 09 Mar 2006 10:43 - 9313 of 10502

Steve

Thanks for the info and will be keeping an eye on the weather

Fundamentalist - 09 Mar 2006 10:57 - 9314 of 10502

england could have done without KP giving it away before the close. Yet again in the first dig we are gving wickets away rather than being got out (so far only Cook blameless)

Fundamentalist - 09 Mar 2006 11:10 - 9315 of 10502

bad light stopped play again

bakko - 09 Mar 2006 11:46 - 9316 of 10502

Scalped a few on the draw lay earlier but missed out on the KP wicket

If Eng continue playing recklessly then the weather may be their only saviour.

Abaccus/Harlosh/Bakko

When speaking to abccus yesterday, he mentioned thursday week as a potential date for another night out. Having said I will be ok, have just been told by the missus that it is the day before her sisters wedding in London and on no accounts am I going out with "you lot" the night before - on all accounts she thinks your a bad influence on me and will keep me out till 5am and get me drunk. Could we rearrange for a different date please?

Fundamentalist - 10 Mar 2006 08:59 - 9318 of 10502

A lot more play lost in the test and the draw down to basement levels. If the weather was to clear up before lunch tomorrow may be some value in laying, but would wait to see the weather before getting involved

Steve

I nearly died laughing reading your post!! Your wife has been so misinformed.

Anyway, have a great weekend.

anyone having problems with betfair ???

sealed - 11 Mar 2006 15:49 - 9321 of 10502

Yes. The website and the api are both 'sticking' occasionally & bets are not being settled.

Harlosh - 11 Mar 2006 15:54 - 9322 of 10502

Seems to have crashed completely now. Anyone else?

sealed - 11 Mar 2006 16:04 - 9323 of 10502

Still up and running here. Just encountering occasional freezing problems.

Harlosh - 11 Mar 2006 16:07 - 9324 of 10502

Back up now Sealed thanks.

bakko - 12 Mar 2006 10:25 - 9325 of 10502

Take a look at Aus v Saffers 1 dayer.

Aus are 221-2 and only after 31 overs. They're absolutely tearing the SA bowlers apart....Great entertainment. Possibility of 400+

Aus odds are an unbelievable 1.08. I don't think I've ever seen odds at this level before with so much more of the game to go

bakko - 12 Mar 2006 10:36 - 9326 of 10502

Ponting has just hit a 6 out of the ground!
