MoneyAM Stock-Picker of the Year 2004 Competition (COMP)

Bullshare - 18 Dec 2003 20:17

MoneyAM Stock-Picker of the Year 2004 Competition.

So who really is the best stock picker amongst the MoneyAM users!

Our users simply had to choose any 2 London Stock Exchange (LSE & AIM) stocks which they thought would be the best performer in 2004. The MoneyAM user who picked the stock which increased the most (%) from all the MoneyAM user submissions would become the winner. If there was a tie for first place (two or more users choose the same stock) then the winner would be the one whose second stock performs the best, the second prize would go to the next person who chose the same winning stock but whose second stock was the second best performing etc.

Entries closed at midnight on 31st December 2003. Only one entry per user was allowed.1st Prize: Coveted MoneyAM Yellow Jersey to wear plus 500 prize money
(kindly sponsored by Hargreaves Lansdown Stockbrokers)2nd Prize: A full day training course - value up to 375
(kindly sponsored by Global Markets Training)3rd Prize: A years subscription to Shares Magazine (cover value 150.45)

woodie : we plan to release a big comp. in June with big prizes. More details in a month or so . Idea would be to let you buy one stock a day but always have a minimum of 5 stocks invested.

WOODIE - 20 Feb 2004 06:57 - 95 of 206

bullshare excellent idea would it be for shares mag readers or only for this site? any other comments on this idea?

HPD has changed epic to PGD ... still down but not by 100% !

Pat

Red Underwing - 26 Feb 2004 11:05 - 103 of 206

I see that IAP is shown as down 79.68%

MoneyAM seems to take ages to cope with share consoldition, split & epic changes!

Accounting for the IAP split IAP finsished 2003 at 311 & is currently 316. So a small rise is the true position.

I don't know if NTY is in the competition but it's another one that MoneyAM has not caught up with!
Look at a five day chart & you see a huge rise! If you allow for the 20:1 consolidation you will see a sizeable fall!

Are there really so many of these changes that MoneyAM can't keep up with them?

Incorrect data is worse than no data!

Fly by night

pwmiles and Red Underwing,
I've just refreshed the historical data for PGD and IAP.
NTY is on the list but I don't have a full set of data for it yet.
We don't yet have a completely foolproof way of automating the tracking of
corporate actions, so if you spot any others that have been affected by these,
please let me know.

You have missed at least one name change resulting in some scoring -100% whereas Certainly HPD changed its name to Patagonia Gold and is worth only a bit less than it was on Dec 31st
