Welcome FreemanFox, nice to have a new name around. I was getting quite lonely on Monday :-)

Took out a long on cable at lunchtime at 2.0017, just closed for 53 pips, that brings my weekly total to 110 pips, so target met and it's only Thursday - and I only traded Monday and Thursday :-)

Of course I could have gone long Cable on Tuesday and run it, so would be about 500 pips to the better, but hey ho, I'm walking, not running.

chrispoote - 06 Mar 2008 18:32 - 9449 of 11056

Hey Hilary, I'm watching and lurking too. I'm looking into forex rather than playing right now, though, so don't expect too many pearls of wisdom from me ;) Weel done for keeping up the thread.
Chris

Thanks SC for the welcome.

I too went long on cable at 2.0012. Closed half for 69 pips and moved stop to break even for other half. Think I'll try and let it ride for a while and trail the stop as it moves up hopefully. I'm rubbish at setting targets, not found anything that really works yet for me.

Seymour Clearly - 06 Mar 2008 23:25 - 9451 of 11056

Looks like I should have left it running. Well done FF.

hilary - 07 Mar 2008 14:11 - 9452 of 11056

A lot of red arrows started to appear as it moved up to 2.02 after the farmers wotsit, but I don't think the battle is over yet. The slower timeframes all seem to suggest it's got higher to go.

hodgins - 09 Mar 2008 23:43 - 9453 of 11056

Preferring it above 2.02 to start the week? after starting the week to the upside.
Line in the sand might even be something as simple as which side of the daly 200ma and weekly 50ma it wants to stay on or change to?

Bobcolby - 10 Mar 2008 11:30 - 9454 of 11056

hi hilary

I am a very delayed "here to". Have not looked in for weeks as I am being distracted by golf and my wife's new computer. Just as well really because I was going to sell cable

Bob

Seymour Clearly - 10 Mar 2008 11:38 - 9455 of 11056

Well cable's looking like it's ready to push up again once we convincingly break $2.02. I'm long with a really tight stop.

Hi Guys and Gals,

Does anyone on this thread have any recommendations for Forex Pivot point numbers based on GMT?

hilary - 10 Mar 2008 18:04 - 9457 of 11056

Try this link, John.

I've seen another site somewhere that tells you what the pivot points are each day for different pairs/crosses. Sorry, don't know where I've seen it, but I'll post it up for you if come across it.

Otherwise, if you use MT4, I'm pretty sure that I've seen somewhere a pivot point custom indicator that (I would guess) will probably draw the lines onto your chart.

Seymour Clearly - 10 Mar 2008 18:07 - 9458 of 11056

Stopped out of that long for -25 in the end, also a loss on a Euro Jappy so not one of my better days :-(. Going shopping with Mrs Clearly tomorrow so having a day off trading.

scussy - 10 Mar 2008 18:59 - 9459 of 11056

Thanks, appreciated.

FreemanFox - 10 Mar 2008 20:49 - 9461 of 11056

Just returned this evening after long weekend away to find the remaining half of my long trade closed out at 2.0191 for a 179 pip profit. Well pleased !!
See most of today was trading in a pretty tight range until late sell off.
Still think it is going to go higher but will wait and see how far it reacts tomorrow before deciding what to do.

hilary - 11 Mar 2008 08:54 - 9462 of 11056

John,

I came across a few custom indicators of Pivot Points for MT4 if you're interested.

This is an image of what they look like on a chart.

Personally, I think the painters need to change some colours (background and candles), then it might be a bit easier on the eye. At the moment, I don't think it's particularly clear.

This particular indicator can be downloaded here.

There are also other Pivot custom indicators available here.

FreemanFox - 11 Mar 2008 09:15 - 9463 of 11056

Long cable at 2.0105. Looking for it to return to yesterdays highs, though I'm keeping a close eye on it to see how it reacts over next hour.

hilary - 11 Mar 2008 09:23 - 9464 of 11056

I see cable as falling now on the 4 hour chart and I suspect that the world, his wife and their pet poodle are all going to be looking to sell into this rally. The oscillators on the 30 minute chart are rising with the rally, and I suspect they will give a very good pointer of if and when to sell.

Obviously this isn't an exact science and it is entirely possible that they will just carry on going up.

FreemanFox - 11 Mar 2008 09:36 - 9465 of 11056

I see that we've had just a pullback on both the hourly and H4 timeframes which pullbacked to nearly the 38.2 fib retracement of the last major move. Daily trend is up so I think this move has potential to go as high as 2.05 (next week) though I'll see how it reacts around the 2.02 first. Guess that's what makes a market - differing views!! I think the next hour is crucial though so I will be monitoring closely.

hilary - 11 Mar 2008 10:37 - 9466 of 11056

Well done FF. I didn't expect to see it back at 2.02 today. Not that I'm complaining.

hodgins - 11 Mar 2008 11:09 - 9467 of 11056

I am a bit thick but with the pivot point (or any other) download for Metatrader how do I actually get it onto the chart and then can I have it on the chart or not as desired.
Also can I get it onto Water House and/or ODL version rather than Alpari?
Any help appreciated
