Shamona - Have you tried to contact SEO? - No I thought not
If you had - you would know that you will get put through to Ian Balchin or Howard more often than not.
They do seem quite happy to discuss things (that are discussable) with their shareholders and investors - as well as the press.
Interstingly - when I asked about Northern Foods - SEO were unable to discuss because o SEX regs - read into that what you might!

I think it's inconceivable that Northern Foods won't sign up to Greenseal in the next week or so. In my opinion, Northern Foods simply wouldn't have been awarded the contract without committing to Greenseal.
Perhaps Ferndale Foods were at a disadvantage because they didn't have ASDA dedicated lines which could be easily converted.

Dormar Hi,
Good thinking on the dedicated lines :)
No way would Tony Ruane accept signing a new deal, unless it included Greenseal (and probably Starpol too).
Northern are a huge company, they are the biggest ready meal supplier with over 80,000,000 per annum (before this contract that is !) so they are quite likely to have enough machines to give ASDA exclusive machines for this contract.
Announcement on Monday ? the day the contract goes live ?
Cheers,

I suspect that Ferndale may have lost this particular contract - but they may still be in the running for others?

Paul - one of the things that Ian Balchin said when I asked him about the problem of using the same production lines for different retailers was that several (I think he said several) of ASDA'a suppliers would have dedicated product lines - indeed dedicated depots to supply ASDA.
Perhaps Northern Foods were able to committ to dedicated depots converting over to SEO products but Ferndale weren't (I dont know how big Ferndale are ?)

Perhaps rf was too costly and cost Ferndale the whole contract!

Then again, maybe not:-(

PM, Hi
Yes, I would be surprised if it didn't include Starpol.
I'm not sure how many ready meals, and therefore machines, a 30m contract implies, but if it's say 10 machines, the royalty to Stanelco would be 250k. Which as a percentage of 30m is naff all.
Northern Foods would be saving somewhere near 1m annualy, by adopting Greenseal.
So I can't imagine that ASDA had to do too much arm twisting!!!.

Dormar,
Good point about the percentage. If that is the case, do you think SEO will have to issue an RNS about a tie up with Northern Foods? Let's face it, we only found out that five machines have already been converted when we initially thought that it was only 2/3.
I can't see SEO issuing an RNS on how many machines get converted each time as all we know that the original exclusive 12 month contract with ASDA mentioned several hundred. Maybe once all have been converted then we might get some substantive feedback.
IMHO

I tried to find out from SEO when the Mondini RF machine would be ready. No launch date has as yet been fixed/publicised. The impression is that the machine is virtually ready but needs testing. I still think that the availability of that machine will put a rocket under the number of RF machines being used around the world.

Ask your partner. Probably means, not to night darling, I've got a head ache. To which there is a classic response which I cannot post on here.
If anyone tells you it is anything to do with Stock Exchange Regulations, they're lying.
