The list goes on. And there are many more companies that are well off their highs since inauguration. Given you are not a subscriber, I would suggest you are now qualified to state who is.

What makes the financial press qualified? Or the tipsheet editors/analysts? Have they all sat FSA exams? NO!!

TW has a young editor of just 22 year of age for his new site. He may be FSA regulated by association, but he has no formal qualifications, yet he tip shares.

Looking at the percentages, I think that ready meal prices are roughly between 1.20 and 2.80, so if we say the average is 2, ASDA will be making a very good profit, so lets say ASDA pay an average of 80p per meal, 30,000,000 divided by .80 equals 37,500,000 meals .... no wonder Northern wanted the contract, and no wonder Ferndale would be bitter if they knew Northern were the third Grenseal trialler, and were after their contract !!!!

Starpol saves 1p per tray, a saving of 375,000, to add to the 1,000,000 Greenseal saving, and it just makes so much sense, that the deal would include them both.

Good question. I think they will issue an RNS re Northern Foods, but whether or not they have to is another question. Some think that because ASDA have already
committed to the conversion of several hundred machines, announcing each machine conversion contract thereafter, is unecessary.

I'm not so sure about that. I think they probably will have to announce each conversion contract, because it's the conversion contracts that count, not ASDA's
committment to convert several hundred machines, which they may or may not deliver.

I would love to know what the ASDA agreement actually says. We know there is this committment for the conversion of several hundred machines, but surely this can't amount to more than a promise to use their best endevours to pursuade their ready meal ( ect ) suppliers to convert? Surely they can't make them?

But what encourages me now, is that we may well be seeing just what sort of 'best endevours' ASDA are prepared to use, if you know what I mean!!
After all, Ferndale were a Greenseal triallist, and they appear to have been unceremonially dumped in favour of Northern Foods, who were prepared ( or more likely able ) to move more quickly on Greenseal.

the speculation concerning northern and some of the numbers is getting ridiculous. if anyone actually believes asda give a shit about seo is deluded. asda are concerned with asda only. rf can make savings.tests have been done and these savings have been worked out. evo's note said that asda will be telling their suppliers that they want these savings reflected in the price. how the suppliers make the savings is up to the suppliers. they are under no obligation to switch to greenseal or starpol, however good and fantastic it appears to us. remember that asda only want to make profit for asda. until there is an rns telling us about more orders, the number of conversions is 5 and we are now in month 2 of the one year exclusivity deal.

I don't think we are deluded, and I have evidence to back up my beliefs that ASDA want Greenseal, so that they can advertise their products are better than any other UK retailers.

paul, asda want bigger profits. greenseal can help them achieve that by cutting the cost of packaging. if the suppliers adopt greenseal and save asda money, it's fantastic for seo and us. if the suppliers can make the same savings by other methods, asda wont care about seo. that's what i believe, and there is plenty of proof about that the major supermarkets dont give a shit about the companies they deal with. all i am saying is let's wait for confirmation of orders before we start counting the money.

Bos, not sure I'm with you there. If it's all about price, the suppliers could just cut prices by switching to inferior ingredients etc., without touching greenseal.

No, for ASDA, this is as much about improving quality for the consumer, and gaining market share as a result, as it is about reducing prices. Of course ASDA will also want the savings that Greenseal can deliver reflected in the price they pay, but they won't be able to have it all, because there must be a saving for the supplier also.

I don't think anyone has suggested that somehow ASDA have this altruistic desire to help Stanelco's bottom line?

ASDA want market share, they want to be number one, and Greenseal + Starpol 2000, is more likely to help, than cutting back on quantity/quality to get the goods at cheaper prices.

So you really think ASDA don't want to be able to claim the Greenseal benefits for themselves, as several reasons for shoppers to buy their products rather than those of the other retailers ????

As I said, speak to Tony Ruane, he will make you think otherwise.

Don't agree with you here. I certainly believe that SEO won't be telling us of every conversion. I certainly believe that ASDA will want to promote the greenseal / Starpol to the suppliers but maybe not to the end customer. Personally I for one, wouldn't give a flying feck as to how the packaging looked, so long as the food inside was fresh and looked fresh! As for the starch based biodegradeable packaging or whatever Starpol will involve then this may attract some end customers who go shopping. What it will attract is the big retailers knowing that they don't have to worry too much about waste, esp if they're gonna be penalised by govt policies on waste etc.

Some folk seem to have forgotten that Asda want RF technology used since it increases the shelf life of products, keeps it looking good for longer and it is safer as a seal. All that adds up to labour saving in stores plus less returns to the suppliers or pig bins. So they do have more than just a straightforward profit motive for insisting on their suppliers moving over to the RF technology. I doubt it will be long before the conversion rate accelerates considerably.
