Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

Clocktower - 20 Sep 2018 08:42 - 9484 of 12628

Cynic, At least you were employable at some point it seems, I have never been employable, and have never been employed by anyone, as I doubt I could have managed to accept orders but it shows what one good teacher in my last year at school, who gave me a glowing report, unlike all others bar the maths and science teachers, and what that can mean to a 15 year old. The guy in question, was a wise old teacher in his seventies, that most laughed at but I connected mentally with, and his words that he wrote my parents in my last report never left me from the day I walk out of that school on my 15th birthday.

I asked myself where he would have stood on Brexit - and his reply I guess would have been just "Pray for the right result".

Fred1new - 20 Sep 2018 11:15 - 9485 of 12628

Its good to see Viktor Orban and TM are bedmates.

Fred1new - 20 Sep 2018 16:39 - 9486 of 12628

TM is playing a blinder in Salzburg.

Should solve the problems of the Cons.

VICTIM - 20 Sep 2018 16:50 - 9487 of 12628

Still fancy her then .

2517GEORGE - 20 Sep 2018 16:52 - 9488 of 12628

But who is going to settle the feud between Corbie & Watsie, your guys need to get their house in order, something that you never remark on.

Fred1new - 20 Sep 2018 17:04 - 9489 of 12628

Not my problem.

Mind seeing the destruction job TM has done to the Home Office and Prisons I am not surprised at the chaos she is causing.

Ps. When are they going to sack Grayling?

What a 10year period of misgovernment.

2517GEORGE - 20 Sep 2018 17:26 - 9490 of 12628

I don't totally disagree but it is easy to criticise when you haven't got to make the decisions, Brexit has taken far too much parliamentary time thanks to Remoaners who only want democracy if it suits them.

Like many Tory/floating voters I am disappointed in much of what has not happened in the last 8 years but that is far better than the wasteland the UK will be turned into if Corbie's thugs get elected.

Fred1new - 20 Sep 2018 17:50 - 9491 of 12628

Death due to slow poisoning isn't much better than a bullet in the head.

Democracy.

Is it undemocratic to ignore the view of the public as a whole when it has obviously changed?

(Governments when elected often reverse decisions previously made. The reversals may be grumbled at, but at least, in general, those decisions are argued first and then voted on,)

If one sees somebody making a mistake and likely to be slide over a cliff if they continue along their previously chosen route, to stop them, advise them of the probable problems and allow them a chance to review their decision.

But are those who appear "frightened" to accept another referendum and/or G/E aware that many were deceived by false optimism into voting the way they did.

I question the reasons why many of the most ardent "leaders" of Brexit "wish" to be free of Europe.

Free to do what?

Personally, I would like to see the "true" financial" arrangements and hope for future arrangements of many of those leaders. Not the hoi polloi like myself.

Follow the money!

Fred1new - 20 Sep 2018 18:03 - 9492 of 12628

PS.

Would you be happier with some of the Sunderland patriotic "thugs" than a few left winged "aberrant"?

By the way. "social" and "political" views are not written in stone, for the majority views change modify over time according to time and circumstance.

The majority of people mature and modify their opinions when they are given responsibilities and information and have to address problems.

Looking at Corbyn and Mcdonnell they seem pretty mature, which doesn't mean I agree with all their policies, but some seem practical routes to sort out the increasing social and economic problems which we will have. (In or out of the Eu.)

Fred1new - 20 Sep 2018 18:49 - 9493 of 12628

What I see as being dictated or polite thuggery is TM having a "chat" with the leadership of Europe and blatantly abusing her government by not discussing that information with it, before declaring like an autocrat the action of that government and country.

That is an abuse of democracy!

Dil - 20 Sep 2018 19:31 - 9494 of 12628

Moan moan moan.

Funny that no one knew what Brexit meant when they voted when it was clearly explained in a government leaflet sent to every householders.

And who cares anyway , it's only the remoaners claiming they didn't know and they lost anyway.

Soon be out Fred and with a bit of luck without the crappy deal we are currently offering them.

Martini - 20 Sep 2018 19:54 - 9495 of 12628

Yes Dil two fingers to Europe. Let them find another goose to lay them golden eggs.
Not long now.
However is it all a sham to convince us they are fighting hard to protect there respective positions and then a last minute rabbit out of the hat? I am suspicious we are being set up.

Dil - 20 Sep 2018 20:19 - 9496 of 12628

M , theres probably an EU rabbits rights directive forbidding anyone pulling them from hats :-)

Would serve the EU right if May loses her job and a real Brexiteer takes over.

Martini - 20 Sep 2018 20:33 - 9497 of 12628

:-)

Fred1new - 21 Sep 2018 09:03 - 9498 of 12628

For the Sunderland boys.

VICTIM - 21 Sep 2018 09:12 - 9499 of 12628

Man has Theresa May fetish , morning , noon and night .

ExecLine - 21 Sep 2018 14:26 - 9500 of 12628

Good on yer, Mrs May. Nice to see you stop pussy-footing around and I think the whole country are behind you on this one.

It is not acceptable to simply reject the other sides' proposals without presenting detailed counter-proposals yourself.

They are not treating us with enough respect. We've had a referendum and we are definitely going to leave the EU.

So stick a cherry on that.

Fred1new - 21 Sep 2018 14:42 - 9501 of 12628

To me, TM last effort seems like her Swan Song.

Pound ???

Really.

How icons fall.

Dil - 21 Sep 2018 15:25 - 9502 of 12628

Wow go out for a few hours and May grows a backbone !!!!

They need a deal as much as us but for 2 years it's been us alone putting proposals forward and them shooting them down.

Over to you Mrs Merkel and your minions.

Dil - 21 Sep 2018 15:29 - 9503 of 12628

As for France and Macron ... he and his most ungrateful nation on the planet are about to find out how easy it is to leave the EU ,
