Ian - mine wasn't a problem with general site access, or even the BB. It just seemed to be in relation to the traders thread. If it happens again I will post details.

Have a new clock applet in the traders thread header, it seems o.k. here but might cause a problem on a differebt system

Just had the same problem with the traders thread a few minutes ago. Had to close down ie. It said it was creating a log - appcompat.txt - which I can't now find.

Croc,
Can you remove the clock from the header for a few days as we think this may be responsible - have posted on the othe rthread but just to let you know.
Robb,
Hopefully that will clear the problem, but please let me know if it happens again once the clock has been removed?
Regards
Ian

Still getting the problem. Also now getting a blank page with "Done" at the bottom. It only seems to be in relation to the traders thread.

Robb,
All seems to be ok with everyone else - croc has reverted to an older version of the Header.
What isp are you using?

Back in after shopping.
Have still got the problem. Opened up stockwatch successfuly, clicked on traders room to open in another window, clicked on the traders thread and bang, down we went - both IE windows closed, and my home page opened up. All going OK until the traders page opened.
No firewall or anything on this machine, W98SE, loads of memory. Afnother site works OK (not trying to be pointed at all, know they wouldn't respond at all!).

Ian - on a locally provided 1mb wireless broadband connection that ultimately goes thru ntl. I've checked with them and there are no problems and its been smooth and fast since I've had it. The problem is intermittant (about 8-10 times), only started happening today and only in relation to the traders thread and on no other website. I've cleared temp internet files and cookies just in case.

Robb,
can you give a try now - croc has removed teh header to see if this is causing it.

Ian - I may have jumped the gun with post 959 as I had just been to the traders thread and come out when I saw your post 958. Have just been back to the traders thread with the header removed and it seems to be fine. As I said, it is intermittant but the things that seem to trigger it like "all messages" or "previous" seemed to work ok.
Cache cleared, will go and try again.
Your help is appreciated.

Rob

Ian, everything working OK since Croc removed the header. So now we have a suspect ;-)

I used a Matrox 550 32mb for 2 screens and never had a single problem with it over a couple of years. Currently run the new Matrox P750 64mb for three screens and am very pleased with it. They do a P650 for two screens with 64mb. If you don't play games then I would be surprised if you ever see a difference. Boyse started an excellent thread for graphics cards which I'll bring to the top for you.
