How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Fantastic result for the gooners, I was at the ProShare awards last night so I missed the match but there were plenty of fans to fill me in on the detail on the train home. I thought they were winding me up but it looks like Arsenals name could be on the cup!

Indeed Scrip - heres hoping

Betangel appears to be sticking quite a lot recently - is this just a problem at my end or are others having same probs?

Scripophilist - 29 Mar 2006 14:42 - 9547 of 10502

No reported problems today, Which ISP are you on?

Fundamentalist - 29 Mar 2006 15:02 - 9548 of 10502

Pipex

Scripophilist - 29 Mar 2006 16:05 - 9549 of 10502

Hmm, If you are on the new version you may want to log on using a different connection mode. Try mode 1 or mode 19.

Fundamentalist - 29 Mar 2006 16:40 - 9550 of 10502

I dont think im on the new mode - can you post me a download link please

bakko - 29 Mar 2006 16:41 - 9551 of 10502

Scrip,

In plain English, what are these connection modes? I've left mine on default 0.

Scripophilist - 29 Mar 2006 16:47 - 9552 of 10502

The connection modes let us change how your traffic is routed to Betfair. We used to do this via the software automatically but thanks to Betfair and various ISP's we decided to break it out and make it user definable. This should improve performance for everybody. Default 0 is usually the best to use unless you are experiancing problems.
