How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

"For want of being greedy, a small price only chart below each ladder would prob make the perfect trading screen for me - any chance? "

Try clicking on the chart icon or undocking and using the normal charting screen. You can pin it on top of the existing screen that you are using.

re our conversation on league winner and Chelsea being too short at 1.05 last week, see the price is now 1.15 after todays games. That price will only last till arsenal win at old trafford next week :-)

frustrating day today as been out, i take part in a team tipster comp on the horses (any horse in any UK race). Today the first horse i picked at 6/4 had already been chosen, picked another at 6/1 which had also been chosen so finally plumped for my 3rd choice at 12/1. Went out having only had a small bet on the 6/4 shot. Got home to find out all three had won - now that would have been a nice payday :-(

betangel not refreshing per second this afternoon - keeps sticking - anyone else got probs?

Fundamentalist - 03 Apr 2006 15:47 - 9567 of 10502

SA v Aus test just got interesting again with the Aussies losing 2 wickets in 2 balls, price went from 1.05 to 1.35. Aussie still need 56 to win with 5 wickets left (though one of those is Langer and he may well not bat having been concussed in the 1st innings)

Fundamentalist - 03 Apr 2006 15:52 - 9568 of 10502

now 6 down, 1.65 the price and no sign of langer (wont bat today by the looks of it)

Try logging in through connection mode 1 or 17. That will route traffic differently to Betfair.

scrip

have tried that but still no improvement

Scripophilist - 03 Apr 2006 16:24 - 9571 of 10502

Try 51, if still no improvement then there is something either on your machine or on the network which is causing the time out. 1 and 17 route to Betfair differently so it sort of rules out your ISP.

Fundamentalist - 03 Apr 2006 16:29 - 9572 of 10502

still sticking on 51. also, dont think the prob is my end because the problem occurs whether i use the pc or the laptop

Edit, appears to run much better when set to 17 - will try that for a while
