How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

scrip

have tried that but still no improvement

Scripophilist - 03 Apr 2006 16:24 - 9571 of 10502

Try 51, if still no improvement then there is something either on your machine or on the network which is causing the time out. 1 and 17 route to Betfair differently so it sort of rules out your ISP.

still sticking on 51. also, dont think the prob is my end because the problem occurs whether i use the pc or the laptop

Edit, appears to run much better when set to 17 - will try that for a while

Fundamentalist - 09 Apr 2006 16:02 - 9579 of 10502

I agree Woodie

for those punting/trading, be aware Henry has been rested by Arsenal and is on the bench

Just watching for me

WOODIE - 09 Apr 2006 16:04 - 9580 of 10502

fundy why has he been rested?

Fundamentalist - 09 Apr 2006 16:53 - 9581 of 10502

Woody

dont know the official reason but one from the following:

1) Tired, needs a break
2) Picked up a niggle, just a precaution
3) Van Persie needs game time, especially if Wenger needs to play 2 up in Europe and any stage (Adebayor cup tied)
4) Saving him for the tougher games (like Pompey in the week) :-)

Prob a combination of no 2 and one of 1 and 3

Fundamentalist - 09 Apr 2006 16:56 - 9582 of 10502

Great first half despite being 0-0. Arsenal started the better, United finished the better and all three keepers have made good saves (Toures the pick of them for me) though there was also a blatant handball from Ronaldo on the edge of the box earlier

Van Nistelroy still unable to stand upright, Hleb still passing to the wrong team (though is getting better by the game).

As much as im not a fan Rooney has been awesome in the first half

Nice to see two sides trying to play proper football (Chelsea take note)

WOODIE - 09 Apr 2006 17:26 - 9583 of 10502

fundy thanks

Fundamentalist - 09 Apr 2006 17:55 - 9584 of 10502

Fair play to United, the better team on the day won. Rooney against Senderos proved to be the difference, Rooney was top drawer today.

Arsenal failed to take the chances they had and by the second half there were some very tired legs out there. Wouldnt be surprised to see Toure and Fabregas or Gilberto rested midweek (i expect Campbell and Diaby will come back in)

Worst thing is im out for dinner with a United fan tonite - and guess who's now got to pick up the bill :-(

WOODIE - 09 Apr 2006 19:13 - 9586 of 10502

poor fundy you will get the money back monday

Scripophilist - 09 Apr 2006 22:03 - 9587 of 10502

Just settled in to watch the Golf, looks like it will be an exciting finish.

Still recovering from the hang over after Aintree last week.

Evening scrip

just got in from dinner, my book looking ok on the masters. only reds currently are woods and singh may have to lay singh off soon though. Tim Clark or Couples would be ideal but ill take Mickelson winning

Fundamentalist - 09 Apr 2006 22:16 - 9589 of 10502

How did Aintree go trading wise - as good as Cheltenham ?
