moneyplus - I only have a small e/w fun bet 2 or 3 times a week. I follow certain trainers and jockey combinations over the jumping season that has nearly finished. Thank god i only bet small as my recent selections have been rubbish! 95% of racing punters loose over the long-term, that's why you never see a poor bookie. If you must have a flutter now and then, make it a small wager you can afford to loose and laugh at. Good luck with your selections.
moneyplus email.gif profile.gif - 08 Apr 2008 20:26 - 10 of 9618
ah well you can't win em all---I thought at least one would be a winner but I enjoyed myself!
HARRYCAT profile.gif - 08 Apr 2008 21:55 - 11 of 9618
Just to put this into perspective, a couple of years ago when I looked at the tipster's rate of success, the best free tipster was the guy from The Star newspaper with a 28% success rate, closely followed by the guy from The Sun. If these are the best tipsters on the circuit, what chance have us mortals got?!!! But, as you say, if you enjoy a punt or two & get the odd win, then what's the harm? Roll on the flat season & then I will keep a closer watch on this board. Sorry, but chase & hurdles are just not my thing. One horse goes down & three more behind get stopped in their tracks! Crazy!!!
Guscavalier profile.gif - 09 Apr 2008 09:45 - 12 of 9618
I like a dabble now and then mainly at the top meetings like Cheltenham and Royal Ascot when the better quality horses tend to run. You also know that every horse is trying at these top meetings. As regards fallers, I steer clear of novices chases as I think more horses can come to grief in these events. Unless you really know what you are doing, it is something that should not be taken seriously but, it is a good day out. Not many poor bookies about, so I will stick with my Ladbroke shares.

The shorter that everyone loves to hate 'Evil Knevil' aka Simon Cawkwell knows his horses it seems and gave another winner last week over on the other site. Gentlemen, If it is of any interest to anybody, I reckon that Natagora has a terrific chance in Sunday's 1000 Guineas. 3/1 is very generous. Simon Cawkwell

All UK racing cancelled.

MONEYTALKS - 07 Feb 2019 12:31 - 9587 of 9624

Cheers mitzy.

An outbreak of equine flu has forced the cancellation of all British racing on Thursday – and the British Horseracing Authority is set to decide in the coming hours how long the shutdown must last.

The BHA made the decision to cancel all Thursday’s cards on Wednesday night after the Animal Health Trust confirmed three positive tests from vaccinated horses in an active racing yard.

In an initial statement, the BHA reported horses from the infected yard raced on Wednesday at Ayr and Ludlow, adding identification of the virus in vaccinated animals presented a “cause for significant concern”.

“ Following these results being known, a call will be convened to discuss the implications, and a decision will then be made as to the impact on racing in the coming days ”

BHA statement

Donald McCain’s yard was the only one represented at both tracks.

In an update on Thursday morning, the governing body added: “We will endeavour to issue regular information, but we are still in the early stages of assessing the scale and severity of the outbreak.

“We are working quickly to identify the extent of the infection and will have more information when further test results are returned today. The results from those tests will not be known until this evening.
