wilbs,

Supercenters

Supercenters

The growing demand for one-stop shopping led to Wal-Mart's decision to build full-line grocery department into many of its new stores. Referred to as Supercenters, Wal-Mart stores with grocery departments offer the ultimate in convenience - grocery shopping and 36 departments of discount general merchandise under one roof.

Concept
The Wal-Mart Supercenter provides one-stop family shopping convenience. The store combines a full-line of groceries and general merchandise department under one roof. The first Wal-Mart Supercenter opened in Washington, Missouri, on March 1, 1988.

Wal-Mart Supercenters are designed to save customers time and money, while providing a unique shopping experience. Through efficient operations and high-volume sales, the Wal-Mart Supercenter offers Every Day Low Prices on top-quality, name-brand merchandise.

Merchandise Features
Supercenters feature 36 general merchandise departments including a complete apparel department with accessories, an extensive fine jewelry department, a lawn & garden center, a large health & beauty aids department, a full line of electronics and a pharmacy department. In addition, grocery areas generally feature a bakery, delicatessen, frozen food section, meat & dairy and fresh produce departments. Supercenters also often include Wal-Mart Specialty Shops such as our Vision Center, Tire & Lube Express and One-Hour Photo Processing.

Store Features
Designed to provide a pleasant and hassle-free shopping experience, Wal-Mart Supercenters are enhanced with wide aisles, helpful signing throughout the store, departmental directories and 24-hour service. Supercenters are also equipped with a customer service desk and scanning registers for fast, efficient checkout service.

Supercenters average between 100,000 and 220,000 square feet of retail space. Depending on size and customer needs, they employ between 200 and 550 Associates, each dedicated to exceptional customer service. As in all of our Wal-Mart stores, checks, Master Card, Visa, Discover and American Express cards are accepted.

The early days were simple - Mr. Sam, along with his bird dog 'Ol Roy, would fly his 1948 Ercoupe to seek out new Wal-Mart store locations, and as legend has it, to check out the competition. These humble beginnings ultimately led to the formation of Wal-Mart Aviation in 1969. From the first departmental flight in a Piper Aztec to the present, with the largest corporate fleet of Learjets in the world, Wal-Mart Aviation's dedicated team of professionals continue to provide world-wide air transportation to our Wal-Mart Associates that is second to none in terms of safety, reliability and flexibility. Wal-Mart Aviation is an integral part of Wal-Mart Stores' day-to-day business operations and provides the company a competitive advantage over its competition.

Wal-Mart Aviation consists of operations, maintenance, scheduling, and an administrative staff that works in unison to transport thousands of Associates annually.

The minimum requirements for a pilot at Wal-Mart:

2000 hours total time
1000 hours of fixed wing time
500 hours multi time
Second class medical
Commercial or ATP license with an instrument rating
Must have flight time in the last 6 months
Relocation to Northwest Arkansas a must
Wal-Mart Aviation hires first officers to fly Learjets in its domestic operations. All other pilot positions are filled from within the company.

A job with Wal-Mart Aviation is a career opportunity for pilots who are committed to long term career growth. Our pilots enjoy superb training, organization support for the safe conduct of flight, a stable schedule, and a family friendly part of the country in which to live.

If you are interested in a pilot position with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., please email your resume to pilots@wal-mart.com.

superrod - 09 Feb 2005 16:37 - 972 of 27111

the market thinks its good news which is all that counts. i must admit to hovering over the sell button at 14p bid, but then i had to pick the kids up from school. thank God for education. LOL

Jacks - 09 Feb 2005 16:37 - 973 of 27111

Traders are starting to mess around at the end of the day. Some big trader sells going through.

Bones - 09 Feb 2005 16:41 - 974 of 27111

Jacks, T trades are not end of day trades but protected trades. That is orders which MMs have had to fill gradually during the day. Often reported at end of day. They are almost certainly buys given the time taken to fill them - you would have no problems selling the shares in bulk as there is a huge queue of buyers slobbering to take them off their hands!

Jacks - 09 Feb 2005 16:51 - 975 of 27111

Bones, thanks for info. I may buy some more in the morning.

AdieH - 09 Feb 2005 16:55 - 976 of 27111

What a day, blimmey i'm exhausted, moved up to 76% profit on these so far... More for tomorrow, just can't believe this week, best week i've had on AIM...

Poverty - 09 Feb 2005 16:57 - 977 of 27111

Wow - that's tyhr rights issue out of the way then! Couldn't have placed them at 12.8 yesterday so it must be that new finance chappie saying "do it now!!!" I don't know what that means for the SP except that price kept going up after the news. 38M shares is only 5% of the whole so it isn't big or punitive or anything YOOMedia like.

The Tulips market rose for a long time as did the South Sea Bubble before they went south - lets have our fun with SEO for a while yet...

stockdog - 09 Feb 2005 16:58 - 978 of 27111

Just a small correction to post number 973 AdieH - existing share number 84.3 million, not 843 million, so 38 million is a very significant 31% of new total.

Hopwever, I'm with those who say it was raised for very positive reasons - to fund expansion and tooling up to cope with demand for the new product nopw proven.

The price of 12+p each also puts a healthy minimum under the existing 14.5p bid.

Good days work, say I.

Poverty - 09 Feb 2005 17:01 - 979 of 27111

No Stockdog - there are 640M shares in issue not 84M - SEO have always had a huge number in issue. This new issue is only 5% of the total
