How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Tell Peter hes welcome and hopefully he wont be required with his advice ;-)

DocProc - 18 Apr 2006 22:06 - 9615 of 10502

OK, HelenW.

:-)

Having had it done some 14 year's ago, namely angioplasty and coupled with a bit of ultrasound zapping just for good measure, I'd like to know how your Peter unblocks the average right coronary artery these days.

HelenW - 19 Apr 2006 12:31 - 9616 of 10502

Doc, in much the same way as you had it done, but nowadays he would probably also put in a stent to keep the artery clear for longer.

Is anyone else getting a message in italian from Betfair when trying to logon to the website and also another to change my password? I can't even login via betangel as betfair is returning an error of 'messages'.

I'm loathe to accept I've read a message I don't understand. If I were to guess, I think betfair is asking me to change my password to a length of 8-20 chars (its currently 7). Or should I be asking this in 'Ask Kayak' ;~)

Fundamentalist - 19 Apr 2006 19:23 - 9618 of 10502

i had an email saying that i would be asked to change my password in the next week but as yet havent had the request when i log in

Cheers Fundy
I ended up taking a 'flyer' and increased my password length and I'm in. It was either that or miss the Arsenal game :~)
When your turn comes, below is what you can expect lol.

Security shock as Sun man gets on pitch

A good result though would have liked a second goal. Any away goal will see us through

Fundamentalist - 25 Apr 2006 14:22 - 9629 of 10502

well beaten into 3rd

Commentator struggled badly with the horse called Hucking Hot lol

Fundamentalist - 25 Apr 2006 17:11 - 9630 of 10502

Stewards at Folkestone have thrown out a winner traded at 1.01 in running

On all accounts the horse that finished 2nd but placed first by the stewards was owned by none other than Sir Thomas Pilkington - who just happens to be a Jockey Club Steward - and who says racing is corrupt lol

WOODIE - 25 Apr 2006 19:03 - 9631 of 10502

fundy what also happended about 30 secs from the market being suspended the 2nd fav had all the money taken out so someone had the word before they could close the market.

Fundamentalist - 25 Apr 2006 20:41 - 9632 of 10502

Woodie

betfair should suspend before the result is known - it cant be that difficult to get an agreement from the racetracks to be notified 10 secs before the announcement, the result is announced on track before betfair suspend currently - some times by more than a few secs hence the winner is backed down to 1.01

Bit worried about Arsenal tonite, not happy with the approach which appears to be happy with 0-0. Reyes and/or Ljundberg need to give Clichy more cover and someone has got to give us another outlet rather than Henry. Ljundberg seems to not knowe where he's supposed to be playing and hence not contibuting to attack or defence, would much rather see Pires on in that position personally.

Still, 45 minutes to Paris (or could it be 75 mins or even worse for my nerves penalties)
