Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

2517GEORGE - 11 Oct 2018 13:40 - 9626 of 12628

Surely there must be a way to achieve that, …………….getting Fred into space I mean.

Claret Dragon - 11 Oct 2018 14:20 - 9627 of 12628

Interstellar Man.

Dil - 11 Oct 2018 15:06 - 9628 of 12628

Stick a rocket up his butt bonfire night ?

"Dil Send an email to Dil View Dil's profile - 11 Oct 2018 10:49 - 9623 of 9628

The difference is Stan we can pick who we allow in instead of all and sundry having the right to come in."

Point taken Dil to an certain extent but we have to force the lazy employers in this country to train their own staff like they used to do rather then poncing cheap labour from abroad as much as they have. Millions of people left on the scrap heap and a massive drain on our finances for years needs to be put in reverse.

2517GEORGE - 11 Oct 2018 15:47 - 9630 of 12628

This cheap labour from abroad, are they fully trained then, or are their work related documents taken at face value?

Cerise Noire Girl - 11 Oct 2018 17:14 - 9631 of 12628

UK unemployment is at a 43 year low. I'd love to know who the millions left on the scrap heap are...

Cerise Noire Girl - 11 Oct 2018 17:18 - 9632 of 12628

Dilbert,

The government can control undesirable immigration easily with or without Brexit, simply by removing some of the reasons why immigrants choose to go to the UK (ie. free housing, healthcare, benefits). That was their promise in 2010 and they've failed miserably.

Do you seriously think Brexit will change any of that?

cynic - 11 Oct 2018 17:19 - 9633 of 12628

the ones with worthless degrees who couldn't accept they weren't worth in excess of £25k in their first job

i'm pretty sure european courts decreed uk was not allowed to discriminate

Cerise Noire Girl - 11 Oct 2018 17:27 - 9634 of 12628

An EU member state can easily control immigration without needing to discriminate, Cyners. We've discussed that previously.

Fred1new - 11 Oct 2018 18:18 - 9635 of 12628

Manuel,

It depends on how you measure worth.

Some may consider you pretty worthless.

Pretty is probably the wrong word.

Dil - 11 Oct 2018 18:18 - 9636 of 12628

That's not a solution hils. Only way it would have been acceptable within EU rules was if it were applied to everyone.

We shouldn't have to punish our own citizens to control immigration.

Cerise Noire Girl - 11 Oct 2018 18:41 - 9637 of 12628

You can easily change the rules without punishing you own, Dilbert.

Dil - 11 Oct 2018 20:11 - 9638 of 12628

Nah hils. Cammy tried to persuade the EU on that when he went looking for a deal before the Brexit vote and all they offered was some half cocked temporary measures.

It's not just about immigration anyway , look at the way Poland and Hungary are flouting the rules and there's nothing the EU can do about it.

The whole thing is a shambles and we may be the first to leave but we won't be the last.

Fred1new - 11 Oct 2018 20:58 - 9639 of 12628

Dil,

You will have to stop looking over your shoulder in hope.

cynic - 11 Oct 2018 21:47 - 9640 of 12628

i wouldn't disagree, but then i don't have any kind of degree
however, to supplement my modest wage in my 20's i drove a minicab in the evenings, and eventually made a niche for myself

Dil - 12 Oct 2018 07:21 - 9641 of 12628

No need to hope Fred , won't make a difference to the UK one way or another unless the whole EU implodes and that's not out of the question.

Fred1new - 12 Oct 2018 08:19 - 9642 of 12628

Manuel,

I will have to start calling you Taxi.

Proselenes - 13 Oct 2018 03:32 - 9643 of 12628

This was PROJECT FEAR.

This was lies - Remain LIES. Loads of them in 2016 to try to scare people into voting REMAIN.

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/oct/04/imf-peak-pessimism-brexit-eu-referendum-european-union-international-monetary-fund

The same people are at it again, spreading lies and misinformation to try to push for a 2nd vote, an exit to Brexit.

The losing liars are disgusting.

Dil - 13 Oct 2018 07:50 - 9645 of 12628

It's hardly been mentioned since the vote but I reckon a lot more people would have voted to leave if it weren't for the crap spouted by Cammy , Osbourne and the rest of project fear.

Tens and probably hundreds of thousands would have relied on the rubbish that came through the letter box and that was being banded around be the then PM and his Chancellor.

All we hear is a few remoaners moaning that us leave voters didn't know what we were voting for.

If they ran it again I reckon it would be nearer 60/40 in favour of leaving but to do so in the near future would be un democratic and pave the way for the remoaners to have a new vote every few years a bit like what the SNP are trying to do.
