Bit of blue on IDD..just tightened the spread a tad. It's the debate (again) about IDD cards tonight which may have kicked off some interest.
Shame our Tone won't be back to vote in time..hope it all doesn't hinge on one vote.
Good luck to all..it's been a long time coming!!

Blimey...blue two days running. ID card bill safely through the commons. As I understand it there are not many UK companies that can provide an all-in-one ID card solution and IDD is extremely well placed to take advantage of this.
Feel that it's onwards and upwards from here.
Smiling yet Douggie??

From the iii site....................
why is it just over a penny?...... juankerr1
So the battles won. the company looks like best bet for it sue to all the post office and olympic contract like below. And we have a share hovvering at just over 1 p! WAKEN UP FOLKS!!!!!!!!!!! and look at it with sheer logic and use your noggin. We all have to carry these cards, they are costing from 30- 300 squid. ID Data allready outsource and sell to other goverment departments and look like being the prince in waiting to the throne anyway for ID card system due to copyright and code ownership issues (handy when linking into other systems, if system owned by 1 company ;-), They have been choosen by the olympic board for ID card scheme , post office and a lot of councils. See a pattern formingf?
but then again what would I know.
from id data website
21st Technology Secures Olympics
The European Commission, the International Olympic Committee, and the Organising Committee for the Olympic Games Athens 2004 have approved and launched a 21st technology, introduced by ID Data partner Toppan Printing Co., for the production of the Olympic Family accreditation card.
This state-of-the-art card will be used as the highest security identification for the thousands of athletes, journalists, VIPs and other Olympic Family members from all over the world during the Olympic Games in Athens.
For the first time in history, the European Commission has approved the accreditation card, supported by a vote in the European Parliament. Addition approval by the appropriate Ministry of Foreign Affairs, allows the accreditation card to also be used as a visa under the Scheme Agreement for Olympic participants to safely enter European Territory during the period of the Olympic Games said Stratis Telloglou, Accreditation Manager of the organising Committee of the Olympic Games Athens 2004.
The accreditation card incorporates a number of anti-counterfeiting features designed to stop terrorists, smugglers and other criminals from taking advantage of the Olympic Games and illegally entering the European territory for criminal purposes.
Based on this Toppan developed ultra-thin film technology, the accreditation cards use multi-coloured multiple diffraction-grating image, special pigment security inks, three-dimensional digital holograms, ultra-violet digital photographs and sophisticated microcline printing making counterfeiting of the card almost impossible. More than 15 countries around the world including the USA and Canada already use this secure technology to produce millions of passports with an unprecedented record of zero fraud.
The selection of Toppan technology for producing the Olympic Family Identity and Accreditation Card [and Visa] was extremely important to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and we strongly believe that this sophisticated technology will guarantee the substantial facilitation of secure for all members of the Olympic Family to Greece and the other 25 EU Member states said Gilbert Felli, Olympic Games Executive Director.
The solution from Toppan, and partner ID Data, was thoroughly examined by the European Union Committees, Police Forces and state Anti-terrorism agencies before being accepted and approved. Toppan has also developed a new machine exclusively for the Olympic Games and for producing the Olympic Family Accreditation Card. Though not commercially available, this new machine will be supplied only direct to approved legal entities such as Governments.

An extremely measured post from a regular over on the iii boards which makes very interesting reading...........Would welcome any thoughts/comments from Douggie, Capetown, et al
Are we going to be in profit for the next 6 months?
As a result of the recent financing, IDD are saving about 0.4million per year.
Therfore saving of 200K in this 6 month period.
Previous 6 month period was:
Turnover 6.61million
Earnings -1.22million
So effectively, the loss should be under 1million for the current 6 months without any cost savings as a result of re-structuring/the Polish plant etc.
Interim Results for the six months ended 30 September 2005:
"gross profit margin improved sharply to 6.2% from 1.35%"
With gave a loss of 3.12 on a turnover of 19.38. This implies a fixed operating cost for the company 0.26 (gross profit) + 3.12 = 3.38million
Half a year would be 1.69million fixed cost. Actual loss for the half year was 1.22, implying 0.47profit. (6.2% of 6.61 gives 0.41, implying that my guesses are fairly accurate.)
What does this mean?
It means that in order to make a profit, the turnover now needs to be increased from the size sold in the interim period when they had reduced production due to transfer of plant to Poland(allowing for the reduction in profit requirements due to the refinancing). So IDD need to be aiming for a turnover of 32million in order to break into profitability. Of this, they have an ongoing rate of production of about 18million over the years. Of course this doesn't factor in any of the savings from the Polish plant.
Every 62K saved per year by this plant equates to a reduction in 1million in the 32million break even turnover figure.
The previous costs were based on a Petersfield production of 80 million Cards per annum. IDD is planning initially to produce 150 million cards per annum in Poland rising to 250 million per annum in 15 months (i.e by Feb 2007). Based on the above calculations, merely producing at 150 million per annum will project the company into profitability. 250 million would result in profit of about 3 million per annum.
http://www.id-data.co.uk/News/newscurrent.htm to get most of the figures.
Bottom line is that IDD have the production capability to be extremely profitable. The predictions on production for the Polish plant indicate that they can ramp up the sales in order to do that. The question is - How fast will they ramp up the production, and how much of the initial production is custom delayed from the period of moving into the Polish plant.

Hi Mr mole,
A verygood post indeed,
Have to say i am loosing confidence and patience with idd,i was very dissapointed that with idd cards now being more of a reality the sp did not move up but down ,
Also no trading update from the company does not give me too much confidence,i thought the directors would of at least given us a trading update by now,
As for the spread widening again to as much as 20% there is reduction in trading.
I hope i am wrong as i have quite a large holding but NOT selling at .80pence
