Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

Should just tell the EU to like it or lump it re N Ireland.
We won't be putting a hard border up so up to them what they want to do and that goes for deal or no deal.
Over to you Barny boy.

Pulling up the drawbridge would suit some.
Fortress "Great" Britain will suit others.
Mainly the continent.
Fascinating, with lorries from the ports backing up to London and Midlands.

Lol Hils.
So tell me how the EU will cope with the N Ireland border problem if we walk away with no deal.
UK stance is clear , not putting any hard borders in place and any questions ring Brussels.
EU will have a much bigger problem with the border if there is no deal than if they accept our current proposals whatever they are.
Brussels playing silly buggers again imo. Should just walk away now , keep our money and tell them to join the queue if they want a deal with us.

Fred , if there are going to be tail backs here then they'll be twice as bad on the other side of the channel given we probably import twice the amount of goods from the EU than we export.
Their tail backs will be from Calais to Frankfurt going on your calculations.

Divide the Imports/exports by 27 and then compare to UK.

Fred , what are you rambling on about now as I fail to see your point. The EU export more to us in goods and it comes in through the same places ours go out from so the problem will be bigger on the other side of the channel.

Lol M , wait til the French farmers start blockading the ports because our farmers can produce everything cheaper than them and they'll have their subsidies cut to help fill the black hole caused by our departure.
Tailbacks will reach Rome.

I think I have cracked this one. They could turn Belgium into a lorry park and charge for parking, which would help fill the black hole in the EU budget when we leave. QED problem solved for the EU. I Should be a MEP

Dilbert,
If the UK were to walk away without a deal, I would've thought the EU would just create their own hard Irish border. I'm sure they'd be within their rights to do so, and there'd be naff all that the UK would be able to do about it.
I can see where they're coming from on this issue. You might be happy to eat imported American chlorinated chicken and hormone injected beef, but I wouldn't want to see it in my boucherie!

You will see TM working on the "Jersey Way" deal - The Channel Islands seem to have a very soft boarder with the EU.
That is the joker up her sleeve the corrupt tax haven that the UK and Royals love.

CT - if you research, i think you'll find that the channel islands are very open with hmrc ..... perhaps you think the cayman islands and panama are attached to them

cynic - LOL - they all work the same magic illusions but Jersey is the most corrupt place under UK control. It is nothing more than a bannana republic.
Read about years of corruption that has been covered up and continues to be:
http://voiceforchildren.blogspot.com/2018/09/donald-bailhache.html
Read about the Jersey politician that was jailed for breaking the data laws;
Some complaints are just starting to be investigated after years of the local police being in hoots with the Judical and Political Powers:
http://freespeechoffshore.nl/stuartsyvretblog/andrew-lewis-a-liar-and-a-crook/
http://freespeechoffshore.nl/stuartsyvretblog/ted-heath-child-abuse-the-rule-of-law-in-britain/
UK police brough in - have they in brought in to cover up or to uncover the truth?
https://jerseyeveningpost.com/news/2018/10/12/uk-police-brought-in-over-planning-corruption-claims/
https://jerseyeveningpost.com/news/2018/08/25/states-to-minimise-stress-of-the-planning-process/
https://jerseyeveningpost.com/news/2018/08/24/home-owner-seeks-compensation/
Then go and read the old unreported judgements from the Royal Court in Jersey and see the number of cases that one judge in particular has been repeatedly accused of corrupt behaviour, one that refuses to recuse himself repeatedly.
www.jerseylaw.je/judgments/unreported/pages/search.aspx?k=
Then you talk about Panama and the Caymen Islands, well look at one company the BBC has reported on that has offices in both it seems plus of course the Channel Islands:
www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-41878881
People fear speaking out for fear of being harrassed and being ruined one way or another - They call that "The Jersey Way"
https://jerseyeveningpost.com/news/2017/08/24/comment-the-jersey-way-embodied-in-a-letter-from-the-bailiff-/
https://jerseyeveningpost.com/news/2017/08/25/comment-why-the-jersey-way-as-a-term-must-be-dropped-and-the-bailiffs-role-split/
Until such time as the country becomes free from the powers of the Privy Council and the Royal Family - The Firm - there will be no justice, and thats is why TM will pull off The Jersey Way deal for Brexit.

Hils , the EU has pledged not to introduce a hard border in Ireland and that's what the fuss is about.
They want us to introduce one between the mainland and N Ireland instead so they can keep their promise to the Irish.
There will be ructions between the Irish and EU if we leave with no deal and they try to introduce a hard border on the Irish side.
So ultimately it's the EUs problem as the UK will not put up a hard border and so far the EU have done bugger all to come up with a workable solution.
It's them that need a back stop not us as deal or no deal we aren't putting up a hard border and aren't the ones worried about it.
