You are all very quiet out there. Must be playing with your trains (sets).
Probably, won't be around for about six weeks as somebody has shown an interest in my body.
551, your choice of MCRO is beginning to show signs of recovery. Not impress by future forecasts, but the market obviously is and there is a broker's price of 290 for it. I would be happier with a little more.
Anyway, behave yourselves if you have a meeting when I am not there, and for Gods sake, don't tell anybody how much I drink, or it will be all over the papers.

..... please don't talk about b***S$% trains ...... I'm still needing medicinal alcohol to help me recover from my last 'journey' - was on a day return to London (Euston) on Tuesday ..... bank holiday engineering works at Rugby didn't overrun but signal / power problems at Bletchley caused severe delays for several hours..... and situation not helped by the pa system not working in the carraige I was in .... so back to Chiltern Railways again in future ..... slower schedule but surer to be on-time.....
Fred .... good luck with your medical engineering work ....

Here is some safety advice for when on and around the stations served by Wrexham & Shropshire:
Do keep your eyes open for any objects that may be on the floor in and around the station.
Do they mean milk churns?
And look at the dedication of the staff:
The steward serves food and drink from the buffet bar. He / she will also walk the length of the standard class coaches from time to time to make sure that the needs of any passengers who find it difficult to make their way to the buffet bar.

..... there's also that person that sold gold off at about $250 that resides there....
.... and back to the Wrexham Railway .... they seem to consider on-board drivers a point worth mentioning...!:
The driver is part of the on-board team collectively responsible for the immaculate quality of your journey.
PS: Anyone know what a "cafearianna" is?
Our stewards serve food and drink from the cafearianna, as well as helping out with anything else.

More crew than punters when I was on it! Did yours stop in New Street too? Farcical.

It seems that W&S are putting great emphasis on the fact that we won't have to change at New Street (with the possibility of the connection miss) rather then journey time and ticket cost improvements over what Virgin currently offer.
Journey times probably will come down in the next time table, but very surprised about the level of cost of the service from the off! Remember they don't get any subsidy from government so are purely a private operation.
Only time will tell of course.
Think they must have some flexibility on where they stop as I noticed that they stopped at Wembley Stadium yesterday.

Hmmmm. I seem to remember the first connecting service out of Tamebridge Parkway was cancelled, and the following service was late............... Not much in the way of facilities there either - other than a full car park!

but it's becoming a bit like Groundhog Day on the route in/out of Euston now...
today:
Rail passengers were stranded for up to two hours after a signal failure near Milton Keynes.
Virgin train services were stuck both north and south of the city, at the height of the rush hour.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/beds/bucks/herts/7402911.stm
Network Rail said it was an "unhappy coincidence" that passengers were delayed at a nearby site due to signalling problems last week.

Virgin Train and London Midland services between Coventry, Birmingham New Street and London Euston have been hit by the problems at Milton Keynes.

a new meaning for trading rooms?:
A PROMINENT and popular Birmingham pub is now available to let.
The Hibernian, in Pershore Road, Stirchley, offers prospective tenants three
trading rooms including a games area with two pool tables and a darts board, and a small snug.
It also boasts a function room with capacity for 166 people, a stage, bar servery, PA system, pew bench seating and vaulted ceiling.
The property has a partly covered external drinking and smoking area. Anyone interested can call Fleurets on 0121 236 5252.

Stan, the pub we talked about last time as a possible venue is as follows:-
The Queens Arms
150 Newhall Street,
Birmingham
I have not been in this pub, but it is supposed to be quiet after the lunch hour.
One problem it is about half a mile from the cathedral. Have a look.
The walk would help you youngters to get fit.

Stan, doubt I can make 5/6/08, but that doesn't matter. Have a pint for me.
I was thinking that perhaps in future, we could have a Saturday meeting. This may allow a few others to join us.
Not sure.
Anyway without me, I hope you lot behave yourselves.
555, at the moment my portfolios need a little bit of help from somebody, or something and I cross myself and kneel before all mosques, synagogues, churches, Chapels and pubs.

We have had a few Saturdays and don't mind giving them another try Fred.
What is the feeling from you other chaps, would Saturdays be more or less convenient?
