How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

that helps the over 1.5 :-)

bakko - 11 Jun 2006 20:08 - 9825 of 10502

I already have a profit on Por. Layed them just after KO and backed back but almost got caught out. Phew!

ptholden - 11 Jun 2006 20:12 - 9826 of 10502

bloody hell Bak, that nearly early goal just about did for you

bakko - 11 Jun 2006 20:18 - 9827 of 10502

Luckily, I wasnt in the trade at that point as still suspended but got the trade in soon after that but got out moments before the goal. Wont be greening up though as really cant see Por losing this at all. I've got no liability so not worried even if Ang score.

greened up on the over 1.5, you just never know, although I agree I think Port will score a few more, just a matter of time.

ptholden - 11 Jun 2006 20:29 - 9829 of 10502

will also be surprised if Angola dont have a player sent off if Port run at them with pace

bakko - 11 Jun 2006 20:35 - 9830 of 10502

I'm quite impressed with these so called no hopers. They arent afraid to attack.

ptholden - 11 Jun 2006 20:36 - 9831 of 10502

Think Delgado will be the one to go, but you are right Baks they all look good going forward but hopeless at the back.

ptholden - 11 Jun 2006 20:50 - 9832 of 10502

Angola certainly having a good go.

bakko - 11 Jun 2006 21:04 - 9833 of 10502

I think they've had more shots on goal than Eng!

ptholden - 11 Jun 2006 21:14 - 9834 of 10502

I think some of the Portugal players are just a bit frightened to hold the ball up with their backs to the Angolan defenders :-)

bakko - 11 Jun 2006 21:19 - 9835 of 10502

Really surprised that there hasnt been anymore goals despite chances from both sides with Port, the dominant team.

Just shows that the gap between the fancied teams and the lesser sides arent as great as it appears on paper.

ptholden - 11 Jun 2006 21:20 - 9836 of 10502

Very true Baks and the longer it remains 1-0 the greater the belief Ang will have to think they can get something out of the game

bakko - 11 Jun 2006 21:43 - 9837 of 10502

Just nicked a couple of ticks on Port and now green. Not convinced that Por will score another.

bakko - 11 Jun 2006 21:45 - 9838 of 10502

I mentioned a cricket score earlier but failed to add that it was an Eng cricket score!

ptholden - 11 Jun 2006 21:52 - 9839 of 10502

baks :-)
Had a look at Dutching the correct score and did so, although for 30%. Covered most eventualities, but not 1-1. Placed a small covering bet just in case, so unless Angola score twice the bet is safe.

ptholden - 11 Jun 2006 21:52 - 9840 of 10502

As I type, money in the bank :-)

bakko - 11 Jun 2006 21:57 - 9841 of 10502

Nice one again, Pete.

A profit from all 3 games for me today :-)

Cant wait for tomorrow!

ptholden - 11 Jun 2006 22:03 - 9842 of 10502

Yep, me too. Plus Rugby, Tennis, Cricket and the Nags. All relatively small bets, but they certainly add up :-)

ptholden - 11 Jun 2006 22:05 - 9843 of 10502

Incidentally, good job I greened up on the over 1.5 goals. As I said you just never know!!
