Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting
in the middle of a goldmine!
This company through
their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full
advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year.
Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies
and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund
placements on behalf of the companies they represent.
|
|
On first sight, the
fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector
makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because
it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think
again!
DGT bring new companies
to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated"
on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company
is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk
of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies
must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring
income).
Because DGT also act
as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging
placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In
addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work,
they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may
need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash
to speed growth.
Current NOMADships:
28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000
per year)
Current on-going Brokerage
agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)
For flotations, depending
on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000
to 100,000+
For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12%
of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M
though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000
!
These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances
and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk
of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back
to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket.
Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge
and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another
healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation
means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for
years, with DGT having to do very little.
New clients gained in 2005 are:

Reassuring indeed - thanks for that useful bit of info. I reckon if you placed a limit buy at 0.60 it might just get filled on intraday dips between now and H1 results - might try it to prove the point.

Up we go on some good buying volumes (relative to what's available anyway) back to .67p previous peak. Is this a double top, is it the next leg up, is it a bird, is it SuperTony - we'll know soon enough.
Sorry, too late to buy <.60p - I shoulda dunnit when I had the chance!

Thanks PTH and Eric, could be the most profitable game of golf I have played in a long time. Usualyy play for tea and teacakes, perhaps next time it could be for dinner and wine.
Markus, glad you are aboard.
Snakey, free golf at Norwood tell me more. Have clubs will travel.

Afternoon guys,
Been out having a hack, literally!!
Always nice to come home and see DGT on the move again. Also nice to see that the Golf Challenge has resulted in a few new faces on here. Welcome onboard Predateur and Markus (aka the shark). Hope we all have a profitable time with DGT. Considering the Interims are about six weeks away, this has along way to go yet. Bound to be some ups and downs, but I think it will be well worth hanging in.
Good luck to all

Snakey - I'd like to update my guestimate if that's in the rules to 700,000 net profit before tax for H1.
Andysmith - this is a framily thread - no four-letter words - like DEMG please (bought high, sold at the lowest point - lost lots - sore loser!) Luckily I put what remained of my cash in DGT!

Wonder where the MMs are getting all this stock from? Seem to have more than last Friday's activity indicated.

Lots of buys in today... suprised not to see larger gain on SP!
Any reasons for this?

Agree, hence my question. Might be some delayed sells popping up in a while.

There's the first, that 500k T Trade @ 0.67p is almost certainly a sell.

Post 1000 of 1000!
Quite frankly very very surprised not too see more delayed sells after the bell. I wonder where the MMs are getting this stock from?
One of three scenarios:
1. Have more stock than previously assumed, although judging from Friday, doesn't seem likely.
2. Biggish sell being worked through.
3. Don't know if this is possible, but MMs selling stock they don't have in the hope they can buy it back later at a lower price to balance the book. If so, stand by for a shake in the next few days.
When all said and done, I don't think it really matters, DGT is obviously perceived as a good buy at the moment and will continue to be so, but fun to speculate!

Just had a quick peek at the chart. As sd intimated earlier, SP has made a double top today, so in view of comment 3 post 1000/1000, fall tomorrow and possibly the day after. Well, that's the theory, quite happy to be proven wrong.
On the bright side, Golden Cross inevitable now and nearly there!

pth/og - I don't think it's a double top unless it's an end of day d/t and the riight hand down leg is already formed - so I take this as a TST (triangular shaped thingy) or flag which will oscillate with ever narrowing tops/bottoms until it breaks up again.
Should be more upward fun tomorrow IMHO.
