How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?
Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

I have met Peter Webb, a very nice guy and he seems to be a very shrewd man, I am surprised he has had to resort to writing books , but we all go through bad patches.

I've got a matched back and lay bet on Portugal v Iran but nothing showing on screen and can only be seen if I go to my account / matched bets.
Anyone else experiencing anything similar ?

There seem to be a couple of odd things happening via the bf website recently.
I am all set up for Ascot next week now, really looking for to it. Should be able to set up a record race, day and week. I just can't wait!

Viva L'Espana Mr E :-)
Backed spain in increments from 2.06 upto 5.7 after they went 1-0 down - a most pleasing evening

Mr EURO. ooh yee of little faith.
A gooner I believe.
Spain should forget all those mickey mouse midfielders when the best one in the world is a gooner!!
Wish Id been near a computer last night, I would have beeen big on spain at 1-0 down!!

Yep gooner through and through!
I messed up big time last night. Thinking I was going to lose I started having a few beers. When Spain went 2-1 up I layed off the bet and did something seriously wrong.
Fuck knows what I did but I fucked up big time. I am a stupid twat.
I ended up winning about 1,200 on Spain (instead of 5) and greening up to the tune of 80k on the draw and Spain to lose!!!! I think I layed off all my profit and not my liability. As soon as I had done that we lost all the electricy in a storm (just come back on) so didn't see until this morning.
There you are, I put my hands to being stupid.

Well, you said it, Mr Euro. But what I am reading is something along the lines of, you now seem to be saying you are a winner in life because you are really clever at being stupid.
Sorry, but not in my book.
Mind you, we all have faults. I'm too bloody patronising. However, although I am trying to change, I'm failing miserably here.

No I am not stupid Doc, although I do a lot of stupid things at time!
Here is what I did in more or less round numers:
4k on Spain at 2.12 (This is roughly the average of a numer of bets).
Then I layed Spain for 88k at 1.06.
I ended up winning 1,200 ish.
What did I do wrong?

4k on Spain at 2.12 = 4480 profit
88k lay on Spain = 5280 liability
Gives a P&L of -800

Sorry I didnt give you the correct opening bets. My opening bet was 2.12 but only for a 1000, the average is more like 3 ish.
I have written myself a spreadsheet now so I don't get confused again :-) Bloody expensive mistake.
I layed off by profit and not my strake. Still given how it was looking half way through the 2nd half, winning 1,190 and getting my strake back is better than nothing (even if I did mess up).

Just to double check.....
Lets assume I think Germany will lose, if I back Ecuador 1000 at 9.
If then the price moves in to 8 I want to close. If I lay 1000 @ 8's then I am left with a free bet of 200 if Germany win, and nothing for lose or draw.
If I want to take the profit now, I lay agggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrr this is doing my head in. I have just written a spreadsheet and it worked but now I can't understand it!!!!
Help!
Mr Euro

...if I want to take the profit now, I lay 1250 @ 8.
meaning 1250 - 1000 stake = 250 profit correct?
but what if I wanted to green up on all possibilities?
