FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Toya - 28 Nov 2012 15:12 - 9911 of 21973

New Home sales fell 0.3% - maybe that's what triggered the plummet!

Wow - what a see-saw!

European shares pared losses in afternoon trading on Wednesday after U.S. House Speaker John Boehner said he was optimistic that a deal on the U.S. "fiscal cliff" of tax rises and spending cuts could be reached.

bhunt1910 - 28 Nov 2012 16:04 - 9919 of 21973

My long on the FTSE @5790 is still holding - although it was a bit wobbly today - expecting a rise from here now

Toya - 28 Nov 2012 16:05 - 9920 of 21973

I was doing quite well halfway through all that - and then blew it cos I wasn't keeping my eyes on it... back to the starting grid!

Shortie - 28 Nov 2012 16:12 - 9921 of 21973

I'm +100 pts at the moment, looking good, currently short 12870, Chaikin now back down. Nice chart below shows the action.

skinny - 28 Nov 2012 16:13 - 9922 of 21973

Well done Shortie - I was just too quick to close. C'est la vie.

Shortie - 28 Nov 2012 16:30 - 9923 of 21973

Went short too early, looks like I'll be giving some back

Toya - 28 Nov 2012 16:34 - 9924 of 21973

I've just gone short from 12900 - hope it keeps going down now cos I need to make up some losses from earlier this afternoon!

Balerboy - 28 Nov 2012 16:39 - 9925 of 21973

pepsi instead of a fine wine tonight then toya.,.

Shortie - 28 Nov 2012 16:49 - 9926 of 21973

Good luck with that Toya, can't see why it would stay above 12900, RSI overweight, MACD cross in on 3 min chart below, need a cross on the 15 min + to set longer term direction though.

cynic - 28 Nov 2012 16:54 - 9927 of 21973
