How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

I can see a very VERY big bet on Brasil coming on!

Not a great price but even at 1.28 this has to be a cert!

Be careful Mr E, certainly check the team sheet before lumping on, effectively no incentive for the brazilians

Mr Euro - 22 Jun 2006 19:56 - 9955 of 10502

thanks. Already have, will see the opening minutes before lumping on. I cashed out yesterday but put some more in for this.

Looking at a 16k bet to win 4,5.

Fundamentalist - 22 Jun 2006 20:16 - 9956 of 10502

looks like theyre relaxed and trying - too skinny for me to lump on but good luck if you have Mr E

Scripophilist - 22 Jun 2006 20:31 - 9957 of 10502

Too skinny for me also no incentive to win.

Fundamentalist - 22 Jun 2006 20:33 - 9958 of 10502

omg japs 1-0 up

Scripophilist - 22 Jun 2006 20:33 - 9959 of 10502

Oops!

Mr Euro - 22 Jun 2006 20:38 - 9960 of 10502

Never pressed the button!! Just something I didn't like about Brasil that put me off and they certainly were not playing like such hot favorites.

See how the next few minutes go before lumping on......

Fundamentalist - 22 Jun 2006 20:39 - 9961 of 10502

Good to hear Mr E

likewise, may well start to drip money onto brazil if it stays 1-0 for a bit

Mr Euro - 22 Jun 2006 20:45 - 9962 of 10502

I expect them to come out firing 2nd half so wont do anything until then. The japs wont sit back as they need 2.

Scripophilist - 22 Jun 2006 20:46 - 9963 of 10502

1-1

Mr Euro - 22 Jun 2006 20:46 - 9964 of 10502

Scripophilist - 22 Jun 2006 21:21 - 9968 of 10502

Mr Euro - 22 Jun 2006 21:34 - 9969 of 10502

Even better ar 2.28 :-) None for me at that price though! Were we all on?

Scripophilist - 22 Jun 2006 21:52 - 9970 of 10502

I was watching the Croatia vs Aus match. Remarkable game.

WOODIE - 22 Jun 2006 22:13 - 9971 of 10502

agree scrip best game so far g poll had a nightmare

Pommy - 22 Jun 2006 22:20 - 9972 of 10502

I laid Croatia at 1.35 ish, backed them for green all around at 5.3 , laid the draw (for 1/3 of my draw profit) at 1.5 and then that POLL ruined it!! Still made a decent profit tho!!

Nice evenings work and got betfair to work on my new N70!! :)
