How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?
Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

As an avid lurker I thought I was starting to get the hang of what you lot do until I caught up on the last 70 posts.
What is it about Manuel that confuses the hell out of me :S
PS On 2nd thoughts I'll try the maths again in the morning minus factor y :)

Wo wo wo wo wooooooooooo Pommy. What's that in English!!! What happen to the other 2/3's profit!?
Chocolat, don't worry, I have a natural talent for confusing things!
Whats on the agenda for today then boys & girls?
Ukraine look very good value, and France and Spain have to be the bankers of the day.

try this,
BACK england 100 @ 2.48 = 248
then IFFFFFFFFFFFF (LOL) england scores you divide 248 by lay price (1.37) as in mr euros example above.
248 divided 1.37 = LAY 181 -------- and you cannot lose

my opinions on today fwiw
Spain, look a shoe in but like brazil couldnt back at such a skinny price when they have nothing to play for and are likely to rest several players
Ukraine, a draw guarantees there qualification but would expect them to win, though victory for Tunisia would see them qualify instead
Switzerland v South Korea is a winner takes all game for qualification as top of the group, a draw would be enough for Switzerland but would likely see South Korea eliminated (assuming France win comfortably)
France have to win, and by 2 goals at least to guarantee qualification (if the other game is a draw). Have looked poor so far and couldnt back at 1.18 on what ive seen though they may be better off without Zidane being replaced by Ribery
Of those, Ukraine is prob the only side at the price i would want to get involved in but will watch first few mins before getting involved. There maybe more value today in the over 2.5 goals market
In Group H (Spains group), all the games so far have had 4 goals scored in them and there is every chance this will continue. The overs price at 2.1 in the Ukraine game looks good value, tho the 1.67 in the spain game looks skinny - if no early goals would look to back around the 2.0 mark
Likewise in the france game id rather back overs at the price than siding with france at 1.18

Wimbledon is almost upon us again. The draw was made earlier this morning and the Brits have been handed toughies!
Britons handed tough draw at SW19

Backed Ukraines but will probably close out before the game and see how it opens.

Fundy....thanks for your footy opinions.
Of all 4 games the one that offers the best value imo is Ukraine. I'd probably hold out for 15-20 mins before backing (that's if they dont score) to get better odds. I'd certainly expect them to turn Tunisia over.
Well, that's my plan anyhow.

Closed out as break out at 1.7 and didn't like the start of the game. Will get back in if the opportunity presents itself. All red for 20 on a 500 stake.
Why do betfair make you wait 5 secs before placing a bet? And do they take the bets of the market when a market is suspended?

OK I'll admit to having lumped on Brazil last night at 1.28. Never lost faith but did lose several pounds in weight. Greened at 1.01 a few minutes before the end. Can't remember ever having greened at the absolute bottom before.
I don't think it was very clever but was under 14 year-old son's influence and using his side-bet guarantee. I don't think I'd have made him pay if Brazil had lost but I hope he learned something from it.

Edward.... You taking a leaf or two out of my book? lol
Anyway, well done. Please dont be lumping on France later. Although expected to win, they're far too short even for the likes of me.

Layed France before the ko. Sweated my b*******s off for 30 mins before my trade came good for 1 measly tick! Now green.
My thanks go to the Togolese defence and France's inept finishing!

Proper mess made of it tonight. Somehow started playing the 2.5 collapse just before France scored. Not content with one hit I did the same again and spent the rest of the match digging myself out of a very red hole.
Can't complain. Before this match my pot was up 90% from 9 June so it was time to give a little back and for the the ego to get punctured :-)
It wouldn't have made much difference to my performance but I found the latency rather high tonight. It seemed to take a lot longer than usual to get a bet placed. Any one else?

Possible first real shock of the WC? Mexico playing really well, although would expect Argentina to push on in the second half. Heinze should have gone, clear red card, ruined what was an extremely accomplished first half performance by the referee.

I'd win a stupid amount if Mexico go on to win the world cup. You can imagine how much I shouted when their first goal went in!
