Bring Back Goldfinger and Doodlebug Petition (GDB)

Shortie - 03 Feb 2015 13:47

What's a forum without people posting, some friendly banter and opposing views. By MAMs decision to remove the above posters we now have less views and these forums have lost their humour and rich content. I say bring back GF and DB immediately.

Please post your support if you agree?

cynic - 03 Feb 2015 13:59 - 2 of 266

shortie - you know where my feelings lie .....

unfortunately, GF allowed himself to be goaded by DB and others, rose to the bait and really got very silly indeed
in that respect, it can be easily argued that he over-stepped the house rules
that said, he did not become racist or similar, which can quickly put someone completely beyond the pale

to the best of my knowledge, GF has not been hauled in front of the beak previously
to my mind, and at least as importantly, his contributions are generally very useful and constructive and his CHARTS thread regularly made interesting reading

should GF have been give a yellow card and sent to the sin bin to dwell on his sins for a while?
yes

did his indiscretions warrant a straight red card?
no

HARRYCAT - 03 Feb 2015 14:05 - 3 of 266

Nearly every time there is trouble on these boards it involves Gf. Then, when things go against him he runs to an authority figure to back him up, threatening legal action to anyone who crosses him. Live by the sword, die by the sword, imo.

Chris Carson - 03 Feb 2015 14:10 - 4 of 266

DB Yes, GF No I agree with HARRYCAT.

aldwickk - 03 Feb 2015 14:20 - 5 of 266

Shortie

It went way past friendly banter and opposing views , and there was plenty of warnings from moneyAM

cynic

goldfinger used many usernames mainly on other BB to trash threads throw abuse at anybody who didn't agree with him , but couldn't take it himself and went over the top with his abuse, cockney rebel is a well respected poster , goldfinger used one of his user names to abuse him.

Fred1new - 03 Feb 2015 14:20 - 6 of 266

I would like to see GF back, but less certain about DB4, (8-)) but the squelch button is open to all and the majority are responsible for their own feelings and thoughts and to whether they are provoked or not by the postings.

Also, the Charts and Nowt threads were initiated by GF and not as appealing without either's inputs.

======

Now there are the following who would merit the ----------------------------

-=-=-=-===-

Just had a thought, DB4 and GF aren't aliases for Ian and the bull.

banjomick - 03 Feb 2015 14:23 - 7 of 266

aldwickk-"cockney rebel is a well respected poster"- nearly spilt my coffee!

HARRYCAT - 03 Feb 2015 14:24 - 8 of 266

So what you are saying Fred is that anyone can say what they want and it is up to the individual to exercise the squelch button? How is that going to work?

cynic - 03 Feb 2015 14:29 - 9 of 266

aldo - i cannot comment about other BBs as i subscribe to none of them ..... however, it is certainly true that GF was far too over-sensitive at times, though his pique rarely lasted long - having been a target, i know all too well :-)

to my mind, GF's great saving grace is that many of his CHART contributions were well researched and thought out, and unquestionably consumed a lot of his time for no personal return (i think)

Shortie - 03 Feb 2015 14:30 - 10 of 266

I have been subjected to plenty of abuse on these forums, as a shorter equity holders can get quite upset when you short their beloved stock.... That said we all have a squelch button and know how to use it. I don't feel GF or DB's actions were aimed at anyone except each other and to remove GF as a whole with all his contributions I feel isn't on.

Lets see how long these forums last if everyone stops posting Technical Analysis Charts that many members follow. People will soon move to other investment forums. I feel MAM have bitten off their nose to spite their face with this one.

There will be no further charts or technical analysis posted from me until this is concluded to the benefit of MAM members.

aldwickk - 03 Feb 2015 14:37 - 11 of 266

banjomick

I don't read CR's thread's often maybe he was ok the times i have read his postings and mike [ goldie ] was , well true to form and throwing abuse about

HARRYCAT - 03 Feb 2015 14:39 - 12 of 266

".....until this is concluded to the benefit of MAM members." ......... it's possible that most members are against.

cynic - 03 Feb 2015 14:40 - 13 of 266

a bit harsh Shortie, though i very much hope the management will listen

Chris Carson - 03 Feb 2015 14:43 - 14 of 266

cynic - stop being an ald woman and shut up for five seconds, give posters a chance to vote.

Fred1new - 03 Feb 2015 14:46 - 15 of 266

Harry,

Simply.

I had a skirmish or two over my observations on some threads.

One thread I initiated on "Palestine and Israel" and another on "McCanns", I thought some posters were being deliberately offensive and after a while found it easier to use the squelch button rather being tempted to respond at the level they considered appropriate.

Can't say I missed their posts.

I think if posters don't gets the response which rewards them then they may change.

----------

If the remarks are libellous and thought to serious enough to warrant action, then it is up to the individual.

But an old lawyer's advice is that "it is better to ignore the insults and avoid the courts when possible".

------

We are all entitled to our own opinions and craziness and to "voice them".

Shortie - 03 Feb 2015 14:46 - 16 of 266

If that's really the case Harry then I'll spend my time posting my research elsewhere with other like minded individuals.

Its time consuming enough with all the generic crap posted on these forums, filtering out the good stuff, without losing those people that contribute worthwhile ideas in the first place.

dreamcatcher - 03 Feb 2015 14:48 - 17 of 266

Two posters I have always got on very well with. I do not post on other Boards, so not my problem what goes on, on them. Very far from pleasant what has been said on some of the threads on moneyam . I would hope DB and GF read the Foxtons (FOXT) thread and hope they would agree some pretty distasteful/disgusting words have been said and pictures placed on the thread, do serious investors want to read these abusive arguments and should they have too ? Yes I would like to see them posting the good and sensible posts we are used to on here. Do not know the way forward ?

HARRYCAT - 03 Feb 2015 14:50 - 18 of 266

"...with all the generic crap posted on these forums." That's the difference between Traders and Investors, surely? Some people want a 15 min price chart, some want a 1 year chart. Maybe the two don't mix on the same Forum then?

Shortie - 03 Feb 2015 14:54 - 19 of 266

Maybe a cool down period is required of say 48hrs in these cases then.

It would seam more appropriate to me.

aldwickk - 03 Feb 2015 14:58 - 20 of 266

Some people seem to be willing to put up with abuse on here so that they can copy trade goldie, thats ok but come out and say it , don't hide behind your willingness to have him back is not to make money

kimoldfield - 03 Feb 2015 17:31 - 21 of 266

Democracy rules, ok! Ok? Um.............,well maybe! :o)
