richer interactive content is something the major entertainment publishers are
keen to capitalise upon. Our proprietary DVD-ExtraTM authoring technology,
which allows the creation of far richer and more advanced interactive content
for use on standard DVD players, is being well received by third parties. There
has also been great interest from IP holders as to how DVD-Extra can extend
brands and feedback from our Early Adopters programme has been positive. 'The
work we are doing with Universal Pictures for the release of the 'Who Wants To
Be A Millionaire?' Interactive DVD game in the UK and France this Christmas is
also very promising.
'The videogame publishing arm of the business is also progressing well and we
will be releasing 24 products over a number of platforms in over 5 territories
during the second half of 2003. These releases, together with the revenues
generated from DVD Extra will pave the way for solid future revenue income and
place ZOO Digital Group in a strong position for a move to profitability in the
current financial year and significant growth thereafter.'

CEO of Zoo Digital Group Plc outlines 12 month objectives for commercializing patented DVD Extra technology
IAN STEWART is the Founder and Chief Executive of Zoo Digital Group
TWST: Can we begin with an introduction to Zoo Digital (LSE: ZOO.L - news) (London: ZOO.L), including a brief historical sketch?
Mr. Stewart: The Company was formed in 1999 and went through the latter stages of the dot-com boom and bust as a digital solutions provider. Over the last couple of years it has had to be fairly fleet-of-foot as that marketplace proved very difficult and generally avenues of revenues were being cut off. There was a period in 2000 we decided that we would focus the business more towards technology and publishing of digital entertainment products, which takes it back to my strength having spent 20 years in the video game market. We managed to identify an opportunity in another business that had floated in the London Stock Exchange (LSE: LSE.L - news) about 18 months previous with a dot-com proposition. They still had some cash left in the business and were looking for another business to work with and take it forward. We therefore did a reverse takeover of a company called Kazoo 3D back in 2000 and that gave us most importantly a high quality technology team. We were then able to really sit down and look at what opportunities were out there for us to start looking and what technologies we could take advantage of. One of those that we identified was some DVD technology, which we now have patented, called DVD Extra. That is now going to be the main focus of this business going forward. The business shape at this moment in time is a license and publishing business, which licenses and publishes Gameboy products, PlayStation products, PC products across Europe, and as a technology group which is just really getting established now in terms of how far we can take this technology that we've developed. Going forward, it represents the most exciting opportunity for us.
TWST: How far down the road are you towards commercialization with DVD-Extra? Having proven the technology, are your getting contracts signed now?
Mr. Stewart: We have in the region of 20 early adopters signed up to the early versions of DVD-Extra and that includes DGMX, which is the Warner's group of affiliates who do all their authoring for them. It includes Technicolor, AccentMedia, ComChoice and a number of other top facilities out there. What we're targeting is to have the first commercial version ready for the end of this year, which is final quarter this year, and be deriving revenues early 2004. It is actually looking possible that there may be some opportunities for us to derive revenues earlier than that, but that's not in the forefront of our mind at this moment in time. The most important part is making sure we've got the tool-set right for the parties that we're going to be working with.
TWST: What are the competing products and how would you describe the competitive environment?
Mr. Stewart: There are a number of professional products out there. Scenarist is probably the most widely used, but it doesn't allow the same flexibility as we offer with our product. Theirs is a full DVD authoring system. Ours could end up as a full DVD authoring system, but at this moment in time we're just focusing on the management of assets and being able to produce complex menus. We know Toshiba and Sony have systems and we know that they're not pushing it in the same direction as we're going. We also know that Scenarist isn't being developed in the same way as we've developed our product. Therefore, we're reasonably comfortable with where we stand at this moment in time. We are at the cutting edge as far as who we're talking in the industry and we know that there's nothing out there that competes with what we've got. But we still have the job of introducing our product into people and making sure that it is sturdy enough.
TWST: How will you be doing that? What is your sales and marketing strategy?
Mr. Stewart: This is quite early day as far as we're concerned. We're targeting a certain number of companies that can deliver certain things to us, whether it be market knowledge or penetration. We are focused on servicing a few people initially, which will then open up marketplace for us. To put this in context, this is a small business in Sheffield that to-date has not made any profit. We are not therefore under any illusion and know we need to partner with somebody going forward to really maximize the potential of the technology we have. We believe that it has massive potential. We can probably only get a certain amount out of it, but with an international business behind it then I think it will have enormous value. One of the things we'll be looking at over the next twelve months is who we should be partnering with and who can help us actually maximize the revenue opportunity with us.
TWST: Will that be the main objective for the company over the next year?
Mr. Stewart: Yes, without doubt the first objective is going to be finding an international partner to help us maximize the licensing opportunities. Secondly, we will look to have introduced the defacto DVD authoring system used throughout the world as far as tool set is concerned. I think we've got the opportunity to do that. GF.

ZOO Digital Group plc ('ZOO'), the technology and games publishing company,
today announced that it has acquired the intellectual property rights of Gremlin
Interactive together with a catalogue of fifteen PlayStation One ('PSOne') games
and eighteen PC games for an undisclosed one-off payment.
The games are a collection of classic best-selling titles from Gremlin
Interactive, which was acquired by Atari in 1999. ZOO will publish all the
games under its new 'ZOO Classics' range of budget titles. The Company intends
to launch the PSOne range in mid October across Europe, with the view to
capturing the Christmas market. The PC titles will be published in 2004 and
further PSOne and PC titles will be added to the range for release throughout
next year.
The intellectual property rights and games acquired include titles from the
best-selling Actua range such as Actua Soccer 3, Actua Golf 3 and Actua Tennis.
Highly acclaimed titles such as Judge Dredd and Hogs of War are also included.

Notes to Editors
ZOO Digital Group Plc (
www.zoodigitalgroup.com)
ZOO Digital Group, the DVD technology and games publishing company, was founded
in 1999 by Ian Stewart ( founder of Gremlin Interactive plc). In April 2001 it
reversed into AIM listed technology company Kazoo 3D. ZOO has strong expertise
in two areas - games publishing and DVD authoring software.
DVD Authoring Software
In DVD, ZOO has developed a technology called DVD-ExtraTM. The software enables
DVD authors to introduce new interactive functionality - playable on standard
DVD players - to the DVD. Additionally, it vastly reduces the time and cost
taken to produce such content. DVD-ExtraTM enables the DVD industry - from
Hollywood to corporate and educational institutions - to provide highly
interactive stand-alone and bonus content for DVD at lower cost and time than
ever before possible. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? will be released on DVD
this November 2003. 40 DVD Authoring houses are currently part of a DVD-ExtraTM
'Early-Adopters' programme including Technicolor and Warner Bros (GDMX).
Games Publishing
In gaming, ZOO concentrates mainly on licensing and publishing existing games
rather than on the development of new titles. This is a lower risk business
model has been adopted due to the low break even sales levels required and the
ever increasing costs development. ZOO has published and distributed a wealth of
quality titles predominantly on GBA, PS2 and PC platforms including Medal of
Honor Underground, Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf, Premier Manager, Who Wants To Be A
Millionaire? and Sim City 2000. Over 40 sku's will be released in Q4 2003.

This should make for a good base of turnover to bolster the new development of the dvd extra TM until it starts to be taken up by more companies. These titles were obtained "on the cheap" allowing a cost cutting range of sales for both volume and turnover. Good work zoo.

Spot on rodders, I wish one of the guys on my home site SC saw it that way.
I have likened Zoo to NXT, but NXT without the valuable revenues coming in meaning they have to return to market time after time to raise further money just to keep going.
