About Desktop NewsAlert (Beta)

MoneyAM's NewsAlert allows you to keep up to date with the news on stocks you are interested in without requiring you to be logged into the website with your browser!

NewsAlert hides away in your system taskbar and pops up whenever there is an AFX or RNS news item about any of the stocks that you've decided to monitor.

To take part in this beta of NewsAlert (codename: Desktop Bullie), please visit the NewsAlert page.

System Requirements: Microsoft Windows (98/ME/NT/2000/XP) Microsoft .Net framework (download from http://microsoft.com)

I've just adjusted the code so upon first start up it retreives all the current news for the day.

I have downloaded the file and nothing is visible in the taskbar (as expected as you said it is hidden) How would we be able to edit the stock list?

If you go to:
http://www.moneyam.com/newsalert

and put in the epics you wish into the box in the middle page (under where it says 'Edit your NewsAlert watchlist') and then click the save button, it'll put the stocks onto your watchlist.

If you then right click on the icon in the system tray and choose the 'refresh stocklist' option, you'll start monitoring those stocks.

if you don't have an icon in the tray then it's because it hasn't been started.

The installation package just installs it. You then need to start running it from the start menu/programs bit of Windows.

I can not find the name of the program in the start menu/programs bit of Windows after installing. What is it called? Is it Net Waiting?

The program will install itself under the name 'MoneyAM.com News Alert' (it's not in a folder, when I just reinstalled it, it appeared near the bottom of my list)

None of my stocks on my list have yet to have a news announcement. Therefore no pop ups.

What does Refresh Stock List do?

How do we visit the NewsAlert page when this thread ends?

If you change the stocks you wish to monitor via the webpage, you need to refresh the program so it starts watching the new stocks.

A future version will have an automatic periodic refresh reducing the need to do this step manually.

When the product it out of beta, it'll have its own button on the navigation.
